Zack Snyder has left Justice League in the aftermath of his daughter's death earlier this year. Joss Whedon is stepping in to finish the movie.

Any chance we get to see a Spiderman cameo?

Huh. Was Whedon involved with Justice League previously? I know he was writing for another DC property, but that's an interesting choice to finish up the movie.

His daughter apparently committed suicide back in March:
So horrible.

Brutal news on Snyder. The comic book Internet community should hopefully chill out.
Mostly unrelated but I caught GotG2 this weekend after mostly avoiding reviews. I had heard only a moderate amount of buzz going in and that and the slower build during the first half of the movie had me fearing the worst. But the ending definitely salvaged it.

Definitely an underrated movie. I'm not sure why this is a Disney film when it's clearly not targeted for kids.

Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal has scored In the Fade, the new Fatih Akin movie premiered this week at Cannes, Variety reports. The film is about a woman’s revenge on members of the National Socialist Underground (NSU), a neo-Nazi group responsible for her son and husband’s murders. Speaking about Homme’s involvement, Akin told Variety, “When I was writing this, I was listening to a lot of music by Queens of the Stone Age. I had the feeling that this could be the music that the character was listening to. It has a self-destructive attitude and somehow the film is about self-destruction. I sent him a very early version of the film. He immediately called back saying he loved it and was blown away and that he would like to put his hands on it.”

I watched Get Out on Sunday night.
I haven't gone to the movies in a long, long time, but man I really regretted not seeing that in a theater when I was watching it at home.

Watched Logan this weekend, probably my favorite super hero flick.
I thought the three main characters all did an amazing job

man I just got invited along to an advanced screening of Baby Driver for tomorrow but I already have plans :/ bummed right now because I'm super excited for that one
was thinking about my big summer movies. Baby Driver, It Comes at Night, Dunkirk, Logan Lucky, A Ghost Story, The Big Sick, Valerian. This summer feels pretty stacked even though the majority of those are not what I think of when I think of summer movies
Also apparently Wonder Woman is good so I might see that this weekend despite having zero faith in the DCEU films

Saw GotG2 and Alien over the weekend. Thought both were pretty middling.

Did not care for Alien: Covenant. It was like they crudely grafted pieces of the original Alien onto Prometheus, except all the characters were much, much dumber than the crew of the Nostromo. The best part is that there are two Michael Fassbenders. I hope any future sequels continue to increase the number of Michael Fassbenders by one per movie.

Yeah, Wonder Woman was a great movie, one of the best superhero movies I've seen. The casting was second to none, and that score is incredible.

Hadn't heard of Baby Driver but I just watched the trailer and now I'm psyched.
I'm surprised that Wonder Woman has been received so positively. Don't usually do superhero movies but maybe I'll see it.

It's an origin story. Most of it is set in WW1 era. You shouldn't need to see BvS in order to get what's going on.

At the most there's probably a set up at the beginning and end for the new Justice League movie.

I've never seen a full Transformers movie and this new one looks like the worst yet. But hey, Trump's America.

The lady and I both agreed that the new Transformers trailers look to be the best of the series in a decade. I doubt we'll venture to the theater for it though.
Wonder Woman - you've probably heard a lot of praise already for this film, and I'm going to add to it. Gal Gadot is fantastic in this role. This casting ranks up there with the best in comic book movies imo - Heath Ledger, Robert Downey Jr., and Michael Fassbender have been the prime examples of great casting in my book. Gal embodies the role of WW so well, that it's hard to believe she's even acting. At times it feels like a straight rip from Captain America: The First Avenger, but there's enough diversity in the plot that those similarities are few and far in between.
The action is well paced, some of it came off a little silly, the slow motion thing has grown tiresome, but what really stood out to me above all else was the acting, which seems so bizarre for a comic book film. Big ups to Chris Pine too, I've always liked him, but in this role, this may sound cheesy, but I legit felt that he and Diana were in love. And there was enough backstory to prove it.
I don't even like DC comics, and always felt WW was a dumb character, but hot damn, this was a fantastic film.
