Has anyone here seen RRR? If I have the opportunity is it worth seeing it in a theater? If you are into Bollywood movies, you know, all the musicals and such, you'll love it

I have seen Mission Impossible 4-6 and loved them, but I had not seen Mission Impossible 1-3 which I'm now rectifying in a full rewatch of the whole series. I have so far done 1 and 2. Spoilers I guess?
Mission Impossible 1 is a lot of fun. Can't say its the tightest script ever but thoroughly enjoyable and has some good moments and set pieces and I'm sure this would have ruled in 1996. It's a bit interesting that the first movie goes with a "agent on the run from own agency" sort of thing but it works here, the breaking into the CIA building stuff was a lot of fun. Have some minor gripes with some things in the climax but the actual final set piece of the train and the helicopter is a lot of fun.
Mission Impossible 2 is uhh, something. This doesn't really feel like a sequel to the first movie at all, like Ethan Hunt feels like a completely different character here. The action sequences are just ridiculous and tuned up to an extreme level which may be a John Woo thing (I've admittedly seen very little of his stuff which I'm probably in the wrong for but whatever) but the whole last 30 mins or so feel like the climax of a Michael Bay film but with some ridiculous hand to hand fighting thrown in. So many explosions. I cracked up laughing so many times. Also Tom Cruise plays a great cocky guy usually but the ego feels turned up to 11 here. Honestly I couldn't get past how ridiculous so much of this movie is, and I know that this is a series known for ridiculous set pieces but they somehow all felt more grounded than this one. I think I really did not like this movie, and I'd be surprised if this isn't at the bottom of my MI rankings when I'm done with them all. As of now it is.
side note when the Tom Hanks competition is done, I want to run a Tom Cruise one

I love John Woo but MI2 is probably my least favorite of the series. Doesn’t help that Dougray Scott is a snooze and those early entries relied on the “super realistic mask” trick so much.

... I'd be surprised if this isn't at the bottom of my MI rankings when I'm done with them all. As of now it is. i think 2 and 3 are at the bottom of most people's rankings for these movies. i haven't seen either in a while, but my recollection is both hit a lot of the same notes. after 3, MI (and the bond series) took some pointers from the bourne movies and upped their quality.

Don't remember a single stunt from the third one so definitely needs to be in the bottom 2. PSH and TC are great in it though.

Going on the record as saying Tom's best performance is Jerry Maguire but we'll cross that bracket when we get there

Just rewatched Fallout the other day - that's top tier. Henry Cavill is an underrated villain. I remember next to nothing about 2 and 3 other than the Woo slo-mo.

4-6 lean into the batshit TC stunts and have great villains so it'd definitely be a mistake the dismiss the series based on 2-3.

Kind of surprised at everyone ranking 1 first. I think I liked 4-6 more, maybe because I watched them first? I'll get to it all on this rewatch though and will rank them then. Maybe I won't like 4-6 as much as I remember. The only one I've watched recently is 6 which I rewatched not too long ago.
edit- Now that I think about it I watched either 5 or 6, maybe even both of them, for the first time quite drunk now that I think about it and that did increase enjoyment by a lot. and I dont think I've seen 4 since it was in theaters and I saw that one on an IMAX. So it's not really fair for me to consider rankings yet

(I'm guessing either no, or no but Tom is great in it) I haven't seen Magnolia in probably 8-10 years He's obviously unbelievable in it as far as I remember but Jerry Maguire is a 140 minute movie where he plays a psychotic person that gets you to root for him in his quest to trap a single mother just on charisma alone.

i think 5 was my favorite on rewatch, which definitely surprised me. my memory was that the setpieces weren’t quite up to the standard of 4/6 but the opera is a top-tier sequence, casablanca motorcycle chase is really good and the underwater scene was more exciting than i remembered. plus it introduces three characters good enough to stick around for future movies, and the prime minister reveal and baldwin’s “hunt is the living manifestation of destiny” monologue is just the ultimate embodiment of the spirit of the most recent installments
there’s a bunch of cool shit in fallout too though. and ghost protocol has my favorite setpieces + i love the “technology isn’t working” motif. very hard to pick between them.
5 > 6 > 4 > 1 >>> 3 > 2

I thought Top Gun: Maverick was pretty great, it felt like an old school blockbuster. How have Tom Cruise and Jennifer Connelly managed to barely age?
Also watched The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which was pretty good. Kind of sags in the middle, but picks up in the third act. I didn't think the Zevon song was necessary at the very end.
