Ladies and Gentlemen, here are the rules for our re-boot of Create-A-Fest! Please let me know if I'm missing anything.
Submit in this thread by May 16 at 11:59pm Central:
Festival Name/Fest You Are Taking over
Location (If Necessary):
Target Demographic: (Age, Genres)
Due on Memorial Day: Your Lineup
(if you aren't bothering with tiny font bands, let us know you'll only have 2-3 stages per day)
We'll vote yes/no on all submitted lineups. Those who get majority approval will move on. This voting will occur for an entire week.
Based on approval number, we'll then match up the remaining festivals in head to head match ups.
Let's try and vote based on the following:
1) How realistic is this lineup? If a fest has Radiohead billed 10th, probably not very realistic.
2) Does the lineup cater to the desired demo/genre? Or, does this takeover do the current festival proud?
3) When we get into head to head and if both fests do the above top notch, then does said lineup get you to the festival?
4) Also, once we get into head to head: how's the schedule? Is it a conflict nightmare or does it cater to various sounds in an ideal way?
From there, we'll pick a winner!
Once head to heads are set, schedules will be due.
Good luck to all and let the festival names or takeover submissions.....BEGIN!

You don't really need to. Just post your fest name/location/demo and or genre by deadline.

There rules on how we should put lineups together? Like are 5 people gonna reunite Talking Heads or whatever? I seem to remember a dollar amount system in the past but I also remember liking Will Smith’s music at one time so who knows

Yeah I mean opti used to run this but no one here wants to take the time and assemble price points. I trust everyone on this board at this point knows not to have like five reunions and ten headliners.

IRT reunions and cost, the point is that if someone puts The Smiths on their lineup, you might not want to vote for it because that is never happening. Same thing with Talking Heads. Daft Punk? Maybe .01% chance but also likely not happening making your lineup kinda bogus.

Thief Presents Psycho Chicago Union Park/Cobra Lounge/Bottom Lounge all ages (but it'll end up being mostly just disgruntled middle aged white dudes) doom metal, sludge metal, stoner rock, psychedelic, experimental, etc. will probably be able to put together a decent map and schedule. idk if i have the MS paint skills to go above and beyond for a cool poster  |

I'll just take over the [one day] Greater Chicago Jewish Folk Arts Festival (which actually exists every other yr), keep it at Oakton Community College's grounds, expand it to two days, and have the headliners be Lenny Kravitz on Sunday and Big Audio Dynamite III (Mick is a British Jew) on Monday (no festing on shabbos, y'all). The four subheadliners on the first day will Peter Yarrow, Peter Himmelman, Janis Ian, and Tuneyards (Merrill's dad is Jewish). The four on the second day will be Silver Jews, Haim, Susanna Hoffs, and a special set of Hunt Sales and Tony Sales playing their parts on the two Tin Machine albums.

I'm taking over Innings Festival in Tempe Arizona and will be renaming it to something not stupid.
I'll be attempting something closer to how FFF used to be put together, but likely more of a mainstream feel.
Target demo: 25-49

I discussed this a bit in the other thread, but how do people feel about me inviting some people to curate aspects of the festival? I'll give full credit on the poster! i.e. if irvred wants to book my comedy tent, etc.
Just seems kind of fun, especially since I'll be recreating bonnaroo which has always been a big Board fest. Also also, this can help me actually fully fill the huge lineups Roo usually does.
Thoughts?
