I'll just take over the [one day] Greater Chicago Jewish Folk Arts Festival (which actually exists every other yr), keep it at Oakton Community College's grounds, expand it to two days, and have the headliners be Lenny Kravitz on Sunday and Big Audio Dynamite III (Mick is a British Jew) on Monday (no festing on shabbos, y'all). The four subheadliners on the first day will Peter Yarrow, Peter Himmelman, Janis Ian, and Tuneyards (Merrill's dad is Jewish). The four on the second day will be Silver Jews, Haim, Susanna Hoffs, and a special set of Hunt Sales and Tony Sales playing their parts on the two Tin Machine albums. Sunday: Lenny Kravitz, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Janis Ian, 3:30 - 4:30 Peter Yarrow, 2:15 - 3:15
Peter Himmelman 1 - 2:00 Tuneyards 11:30 - 12:45
Monday: Big Audio Dynamite, 5:00 - 6:30 Silver Jews, 3:30 - 4:30 Haim, 2:15 - 3:15 Susanna Hoffs, 1 - 2:00 Hunt Sales and Tony Sales play their parts of the two Tin Machine albums, 11:30 - 12:45
the Greater Chicago Jewish Folk Arts Fests always start early and end early. there's not a lot of set up time needed for Ian, Yarrow, Himmelman, and Hoffs, because they're all folk rock singers.

I'm going to start posting the lineups in individual threads. Please at this point just vote on if you would attend or not. This is ONLY for seeding purposes. Everyone will be in the brackets.
As far as hypothetical travel, just for now assume you are in the area of the fest. When we get into brackets, we can be more critical as far as location/travel expenses.

If the person indicated it in their info, I would add the ticket price of the festival as well, since that is usually a key factor in my real world decision making.

sorry, i'm confused about this:
the question for voting is "would you attend this festival?" the language above implies that any festival with more no's than yes's is done. however, there are several lineups that, sure, i would attend but are completely unrealistic. am i not supposed to be considering that when voting right now? are these unrealistic festivals that load up with board favorite headliners going to move on and then well done more realistic festivals are done? or are all festivals going to move on right now anyway and the split of yes/no votes will just determine bracketing as wretched/audiobully mentioned in one of the fest threads.

When we get into the head to head matchups, we absolutely should focus on if the thing is realistic, if you would attend (including traveling somewhere), is the scheduling ok and all other things festival. |

Next round will have head to head so that hopefully will make scheduling, aftershows, etc far more important. And while I'm on that topic, all that stuff is due by the end of the week so we can kick those off Friday. and I'm looking at YOU, audiobully! wait, what? |

Get excited for late adds y'all. the only late add I could possibly make to the greater chicago jewish folk arts festival is to add Kinky Friedman doing Sold American (his first and greatest album, if you didn't know), because how could I have forgot to book him when I was creating the initial lineup? There's nothing more Jewish than Kinky's unsubtle holocaust allusions in "Ride 'Em Jewboy." |
