Hello. It is your friendly, neighborhood Pulp stopping by with a very random question. You may have seen a Buzzfeed article on this topic gaining some traction today, and I am stunned to find out that greater than 50% of the population is wrong about this web-ism.
Are you wrong?

This is like finding out about the other side in the standing up vs sitting down to wipe debate.
How can anyone think it's "in my honest opinion"?

People stand to wipe!?!
Like the only time I've ever stood is when I'm out of toilet paper and had to jump in a shower but that's it.

And of course in true tweet fashion I didn't read all the way through. It should be humble opinion

People who think it is "honest" need to OUT THEMSELVES. I feel like I'm aboard the crazy train. "Honest" is winning!!! I thought I'd find a safe refuge here of 100% humblers.

It’s definitely humble. I’ve never even heard of someone saying honest. That just seems redundant.

I thought I'd find safe refuge in a group chat of English teachers but literally every one of them said "honest". wtf is happening

Has anyone in their life ever had the phrase "in my honest opinion" escape their lips?
If they did, it would tumble out like sludge, because it is GARBAGE.

But then again I've never actually said or heard anyone say, "IN MY HONEST/HUMBLE OPINION" out loud because what kind of douchebag leads a statement like that.

This is like finding out about the other side in the standing up vs sitting down to wipe debate. You have weird arguments. Really? I’ve seen that one online a couple times in the past. I used to be on the wrong side before the first time I saw it and now I’m not. This one is new to me. So new that I’ve found out today that two of my best friends that I’ve known for 10+ years are both crazy in this regard. (I’m with pulp) But both seem like things you’d generally only talk about online, I guess?

I'll say it. I always think "honest".
1. I know how people can lie when giving "opinions"--myself included. Ex "Does this look good?" "Totally." 2. Why would I be humble about my opinion? It's mine and I like it, so of course I think it's good.

I’ve always read IMHO as “in my honest opinion,” but now that I’m seeing this, that doesn’t make any goddamn sense. Not gonna change.

Kinda related but I also think honesty is more important than humility. Like I'd rather get or give an honest opinion than a humble one.
