Eels definitely. Never got into Sparklehorse. That Eels run from Electro-Shock Blues through Blinking Lights was fantastic.

Also, Souljacker is a massively underappreciated album.

Both have made beautiful, devastating music - but I came around to Sparklehorse first so albums like Good Morning Spider and Vivadixie... hold a special place for me. Leaving my favorite track below, Junebug.

Eels are okay, but a few years ago I tried out Sparklehorse and just fell in love with his music.
My personal favorite is It's a Wonderful Life from 2001, but Good Morning Spider and even Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain are both really good. If you're unfamiliar, I strongly recommend giving it a shot, especially if you like Yo La Tengo, or Songs: Ohia, Califone, Galaxie 500, etc.

To be fair, I only got into Sparklehorse after you played vivadixie for me Tweet... But this is easily Eels for me. Had their best-of compilation in high school and played it to death. Output has been pretty bad lately, but still. Also, both are named Mark.

Checking them out now. I probably heard both at some point and just forgot. Oh yeah... the opener on Good Morning Spider is pretty good.

Also, I know it won't change anyone's vote, but I recommend watching the documentary PBS did on E from the Eels. The background story about his dad is pretty interesting.

Not really into either, but I owned a copy of It's a Wonderful Life, so Sparklehorse, I guess.

Sparklehorse for me. Never really got into Eels.
Saw Sparklehorse twice, including opening for R.E.M.
