except for a couple of levon vocals and it makes no difference, the band isn't really great in the last waltz. nor are a lot of their guests.
however, the movie has dr. john doing his best song, such a night, and it has muddy waters doing mannish boy. nothing beats muddy waters live on tape, sorry david byrne and jerry harrison and the tom tom club.

Haven't seen The Last Waltz but if it doesn't feature a massive suit it is objectively much much worse The van morrison purple jumpsuit is 4 million times cooler than the suit the suit is by far the most overrated part of stop makling sense. |

I get the comparisons, but a documentary about a drug-fueled, all-night rager at the Winterland for The Band's last public appearance is going for something totally different than Demme shooting one of the most calculated performances of the '80s.
Saying Stop Making Sense is better because The Band is a little sloppy is silly. I don't disagree that I'd rather watch SMS, but come on
