I was at the store earlier and had this debate. Then I wondered, "How much do others care?"
So I'm asking.

There's not an option for me, we buy one brand of TP, but we'll buy generic paper towels

Actually, I'm kind of the same. I mean, I'm normally generic, but I'm more likely to go name brand for toilet paper.

I buy recycled paper towels and I pay extra for good toilet paper. People who buy cheap single ply are monsters.

Charmin Ultra Soft all the way...I've tried the store-brand versions of it and they just aren't the same.
I use Viva paper towels because I like how strong they are, but i'd use other ones if they weren't available.

Glad to see that like others I will not risk on skimping on tp.

When I lived in a frat we were on campus and provided what felt like sandpaper as tp. So never take your tp for granted.

Toilet paper is important and non brand name is bad. I do not care about paper towels.

I should explain that the name brand paper towel purchase is because it's the exact same price as the generic when we buy it at costco. As someone who has lactose intolerance but mostly ignores it, I'll gladly spend more for nice soft name brand stuff

Scott Tube-Free (which is quite soft and thick compared to standard-issue Scott) and Bounty.

I don't care about the brand names, just the quality thereof. I don't think I've ever bought the same brand twice in a row? Just whatever is on sale while not being see-through.

There was one time when we got lazy and went to a dollar store to get toilet paper and we ended up with stuff that is worse quality than what you see at airports. Never again.

agree with the consensus, with the clarification that some name brands are worse than generic but I can never remember which

Charmin ultra soft for TP, Bounty select-a-size for paper towels.
I don't ever really think about anything else because these are things I buy on Amazon so I'm never in the aisle of a store looking at other stuff.
