It was a combination of a couple different things. One, this was like the day after he did his instillation shows in NYC which looked amazing. I didn’t expect him to bring that full light show but I thought there would be some effort put in. There weren’t lights or projections or anything, just him and his laptop in a dark room, it looked like he forgot he agreed to do this and just wanted to do the bare minimum at the last minute.

Then on top of that what he played was kinda boring tbh. He played right after Kelly Lee Owens who absolutely killed it, so I was riding a wave and ready to dance more, and he did not bring that vibe at all. Too low key for a late night set. It was disappointing cuz I’ve liked him for a long time and that was my first time seeing him.

That's a bummer. I've never seen him either, and would've been very excited for that set, too.

What notable opening sets did y'all see?

I saw The Secret Sisters and Shovels and Rope open for Brandi Carlile, neither of whom I was familiar with beforehand and both of which I would gladly see again. Jhene Aiko opened for Lana Del Rey and she was also super good, though I would love to see her in a much smaller venue. Perfume Genius opening for Florence was great, as was Mitski/RTJ opening for Lorde, obviously, though I was familiar with all of those beforehand.
