What's happening in your neighborhood? I've got a lot of folks looking for cat sitters

Mine is exclusively pictures of black teens doing things like selling magazine subscriptions, delivering newspapers, selling school fundraiser stuff, etc and being labeled as "suspicious activity". I actually only downloaded it today because our friend's dog is lost and I'm keeping an eye out in our area for her.

So there's a massage place my area that has a big sign that says BEST MASSAGE. Hardly any windows and the Open sign has been seen on at 1 am. looks sketchy but whatever.
Except not whatever to the nextdoor folks. It's believed to be one of the following: an underground sex trafficking center, a happy endings massage parlor, a meth house, or a legit business.
One commenter (a stay at home mom) has claimed to know enough about the "dark web" to find information on this place. Basically she googled the phone number and found an Angelfire site for a pimp house in NYC.

I talk shit about the thing I'm being paid to do on mine.
Also everyone's car has been broken in to 3 or 4 times in the last week.

I got a fucking sweet home bar off of Nextdoor for very little money. I'm glad Everyblock closed so it led me there.

did all your neighbors who got broken into leave their doors unlocked and wonder how it could happen to them like mine?

There's a depressing amount of hit and runs in my neighborhood. Also people complain a lot about dogs.
There was a guy who kept making 2am political rants that were actually kind of amusing. Clearly made while drunk.

Mine is all just people asking for handymen who know the building codes for historical buildings in the area.

tbh, I had no idea Nextdoor was a thing. I just thought UA was being weird (again).

I'm annoyed by it more than anything. First day I had it someone posted an "emergency" and all it concerned was three cops pulling over a drunk driver on the highway slowing down traffic. Other people complain about cars blocking sidewalks, "suspicious activity" usually with people of color doing regular things, and one woman asked for specific versions of a Bible that are out of print (??). Its like Facebook for the retired and stay-at-home parents.

I think it's kind of funny. There are people in our communities who do not understand how Google works, and they are all on Nextdoor.

tbh, I had no idea Nextdoor was a thing. I just thought UA was being weird (again). My exact reaction, too. I started signing up and they wanted to put my real name out there. I don't think I want to do that. Pretty happy with not knowing my neighbors that well.

I suspect that would happen if I entered Discount Sounds for myself, so then I thought about using Stephen Malkmus, but then I thought I should not do that to Malkmus.

I had to put in my real name and then they actually mailed me a postcard to my address with a verification code to make sure it was actually me signing up. It's pretty intense. I never post on there because of the real name but have used it to message people privately about buying things.

I was thinking at one point about buying an entertainment center turned cat disco that was being sold on there.

Just found you can shorten your name at least so that the whole thing isn't out there.
Not sure why I signed up for it either. Pretty shocked that people in the burbs are dull.
