It's that time of the year to post your accomplishments to your fellow boarders. Was 2018 what you expected?

My brother died and I'm in Kansas for the third time this year.
2018 was awful.

Hope y’all are enjoying your holidays. I just enjoyed breakfast on the porch overlooking the ocean and am quietly drinking my coffee. I am very fortunate. Since we didn’t do a yay 2018 thread (yet? At all? I thought that was nice last year) here’s some of my input: I got married to an incredible woman who has proved to be the most supportive person alive, I graduated school after a brutal final semester. I bought my first car that cost more than $1000 and isn’t ready to fall apart at a moment’s notice. I’ve been on a bunch of fun trips and seen some amazing shows. My relationship with my immediate family is better than it ever has been before. Despite all the job horrors of this year, I feel incredibly blessed, however dumb that sounds.

Wrote my BA thesis, finished physical therapy for a debilitating back injury I picked up last year, graduated in June, moved to NYC, and - by the end of the year - will have submitted my first grad school applications. Not too shabby of a year, all in all.

- brought the blood sugar under control from dr ready to hospitalize me in January, to basically normal now in December, via diet and exercise.
- caught up in office rent payments, so now current instead of a month or two behind
- saw Ashley Cleveland in concert for the third time ever, but this time the better half and I saw her with her husband Kenny, and this time it was in the living room of someone's house near New Buffalo, Michigan. hashtag covers of riding with the king and Samson and Delilah.
- went all 3 days of pitchfork fest; 1st pitchfork since whatever day Beck headlined.
- blew off Lolla again; last act saw there was the Cure, whatever yr that was.

2018 was a great year for me. I passed the PE, learned a lot about myself on a big solo road trip, found the place I’ll likely move to in 2019, got out of an abusive relationship of a work project, spent time and energy on myself, and I have a job interview yet before the end of year at I place I’ll likely end up working.

I got laid off twice, my grandma died and I broke up with my gf. Our society is in ruin. Every day is an embarrassment.
My band released our second record, we played three festivals, including one in England, and also surpassed our 50th show.
Emotionally, 2018 made me a complete wreck. Things could be worse. I am hopeful they get better.

I think I came out even on the year.
Bad: Grandma died. My doctors have determined that A. I'm 35-40 pounds overweight and need to shed those, but more importantly B. I learned back in October that my mental health had been misdiagnosed. So I could have anywhere from 1-3 different things going on rather than Bipolar Disorder like I've thought for the last 2 years. I have a new doctor and am stable overall so I'm not too worried about it at the moment, but it'll be fun to keep figuring this out 3 years in.
Good: My girlfriend and I have taken a couple of nice quick trips places and we're planning to do more of that next year. I made good with my former best friend after a year + of not talking to each other. I became an unofficial mentor to two new people at work over the last few months. Oh, and I became a member of an art collective and have done 40 minutes of original standup material this year, with more to come and now I'm planning on booking a goddamn comedy show end of winter. I also drank a lot of good beer, went to many dope concerts, and spent a lot of quality time with good friends.
Other than lose the weight I don't have a lot of goals for the next year. Like stelles said the world is going to shit, but I'm cautiously optimistic about the next year.

Got moved to a different department with much better managers, doing the same job, but with the biggest clients we have. Got to travel a lot more for work too. Only to PA, NJ and OH, but that’s okay since I like those places. Downside is this was one of my most stressful years ever.
Other good side was my wife was able to quit her job and has been able to do her dog charity thing for 9 months, so she’s been pretty happy.
Also still managed to see 90 shows this year, so that wasn’t bad.

-Got married, my wife is wonderful and the day went off without a hitch. Honeymoon in Maine. -Moved to Florida. roadtripped to some cool spots in the Southeast on the way down -No job now, no serious prospects at the moment, though the move and holidays distracted from the search a bit -signed up for letterboxd

- quit smoking - bought a house - got married - lost 25 lbs - spent 14k on a dog (have 1200 left and will have it paid by next Friday, just 10 days before the promotional financing ends) - had an awesome honeymoon in key West - finally started writing again - finally saw MBV and it was amazing
A lot of milestones reached. Gonna continue to lose weight hopefully. Wanna get down another 20-25. 2019s focus will be on making the career change I put into motion this year and time to start building that family. Expecting to lose my father in 2019 after his liver failure and heart attack in October. We'll be visiting him in March, but I don't know how much longer he has.
Also want to take my writing to a new level and hopefully start to bring some income from it.

My daughter absolutely kicked ass and hit some developmental achievements early. Thankfully won't need to go back to PT for her in 2019. Hoping to travel more in 2019 and get a new PR in the marathon.

Got divorced, lost some weight and spent the year chasing after my lost 20's. At the moment all of that seems like the best series of decisions I've ever made.

I've been super fortunate this year. Late last year I started making a list of family activities I wanted to check off in 2018. Everything from going to the zoo to spending a weekend out of town to traveling abroad. Managed to hit about 80%. My plan is to make another list for 2019 to carry over what we missed and add some new stuff on top of it.
- Started a major project at work that I've been wanting to do for 5+ years - My son transitioned smoothly into kindergarten at a brand new school - Traveled with the family to Iceland, Boston, Austin, Arizona, and also took a road trip down to Santa Fe (Meow Wolf) & Carlsbad Caverns - Met some boarders IRL for the first time - Spent a considerable amount of time with one of my best friends for the first time in almost 10 years - Had solar panels installed

Really turned things around by getting out of a soul-sucking, very depressing job and into a healthy company, good position, and really awesome building to work for.
A lot of the bad lifestyle habits left-over from job #1 have been my biggest foes this year and luckily I am also in a healthy supportive relationship that is helping me stay on the good track. I should be openly thankful for it every day.
Apart from the job thing 2018 was pretty bleh all-around. Keeping with lifestyle changes, I'd like to re-incorporate good exercise into my 2019 routine. I also probably "saw" more shows than any previous year but "attended" fewer which was sort of a bummer.
In April, I did shoot jack daniels with whoever the current members of Uriah Heap are, so I will name that as my biggest accomplishment of the year.
