He must have been fixated on securing the most dollars. Gonna be fun watching all 12 Nationals fans boo him multiple times a year

I think it will probably work out overall but, man, are those last three years going to be grim.

Which reminds me what are everyone's plans for Bobby Bonilla day this year?

The best take I saw was that at the end of the contract in 2031, the Mets will still be paying Bobby Bonilla for 4 more years

ZiPS projections have Tim Tebow contributing -3.1 WAR for the season, so there is still some good in the world.

ZiPS projections have Tim Tebow contributing -3.1 WAR for the season, so there is still some good in the world. Looks like only nine players since 1901 have put up a WAR that low. I'm rooting for him to accomplish this feat.

The Mets are actually looking to compete in 2019. Tebow is not going to make the roster.

I would be shocked if he wasn't on the team at some point in 2019 though.

Maybe a cup of coffee in September when rosters expand. Barring significant development at the minor league level, he's not going to be playing in meaningful games at the major league level.

Oh I don't think his quality of play will have anything to do with the reason he gets promoted; he's dogshit and always will be.
But calling him up is a pretty easy way to make some money/generate fan interest. The amount of Tebow shirts I saw at the Mets game a couple years ago was astounding.

If Tebow can put up a .700 OPS at AAA and the Mets are out of contention, they should bring him up. There are tons of guys that got drafted in the first round that never got past single A. I never thought Tebow would be a borderline average AA player.
The whole thing is kind of a joke but I don't think it sends a bad message to other players. I have never heard a story of someone outworking Tebow.

the mets' new GM was also tebow's agent. but the mets stocked up on OF this offseason, so they'd have to have a very injury-heavy season, even by their standards.

Anyone got any Glendale Spring Training tips? Gonna go see this thrilling Sox team Maybe 400 people at a beautiful Saturday 1:05 PM White Sox home game against the Rockies lol. At least half were Rockies fans. Sat in the VIP padded cushion shaded seats for $25 face. Nice enough stadium altho food/beer was as expensive if not more expensive than guaranteed rate? Beautiful stadium with nothing around it. Was a really great time tho and everyone was hitting dingers which was fun. Would love to go back to spring training next year and check out a few more games. Its a blast being able to just walk down to the bullpen and wander around everywhere. This white sox bullpen is gonna be BAAAAAAD tho

Martin Maldonado (still unsigned) fired Boras today and hired Dan Lozano. Hopefully the first of many.

I don't think Nicky Delmonico will be in playing shape anytime soon: “From what we heard, he hit the gate so hard that it popped the gate,’’ Brewers manager Craig Counsell told reporters after the game. “Broke it. And then there was an exposed pole that he hit his head on pretty good. Pretty scary. The guys in the bullpen said he hit his head pretty hard.”

Yeah respect for the hustle but Spring Training is not the most useful place to reenact your favorite Shawn Michaels Hell in a Cell bump

Dude is on the cusp of being sent down to Charlotte, so I think he's trying to establish some use in the outfield.
