Same. I'm actually in the process of cutting them down and re-rooting them.

I've somehow been unable to kill the wildflower my red-headed stepchild brought home from school two years ago (it has been lovingly named "Fernie Sanders"). Maybe I'll try growing basil in the windowsill again this spring.

E just texted me and apparently it’s time for “Herb Garden 3: the Re-Gardening”. Will the herbs survive? Will they die in a horrible heat related incident? Is there enough light on our patio? Only time will tell.

I just got back from vacation and half my ivy is dead, my geraniums appear to have some weird bugs, and my tomatoes look terrible but I had a nice lil harvest just now anyhow.

Some fucking squirrel dug up sunflowers that Meg planted, and they were doing really well.
Our catnip is prevailing through some awful heat, though.

Put together some planters this week and now we have one of those with an herb garden on our front porch, plus some other nice plants (catnip, cherry tomatoes, poblano peppers). Very excited, especially because all of the stuff the previous owners planted is starting to bloom now too.

My little garden looks good, I finally got a Garden Weasel, that thing ripped the crap out of the weeds in it. Def recommend (and yes I got it at Ace)
Planted my favorite foxgloves, and they are blooming like crazy. Haven’t found my other favorites, Columbines, anywhere yet strangely. Have to try Lowe’s still.

As some of you may have seen on social media, I am gardening like a motherfucker.
Mookie you might have some luck finding columbine on local gardening Facebook groups - I've seen lots of folks thinning them out and giving them away.

Or a novel. Or a Courtney Barnett song.

Resurrecting this thread in response to mookie's social media post about his garden. What are you guys growing this year?

Anaheim and habanero peppers, cucumbers, strawberries, a few different types of tomatoes and basil. Everything survived the move into our garage for a few days, thankfully.

I forgot to dig up this thread, glad you found it!
Several kinds of peppers (yellow bell, purple bell, jalapeño and Caroline Reaper!), and several kinds of tomatoes for me in my veggie garden. Going to skip cucumbers this year since they grew like mad last year.
For my flower garden, I did find columbines much more easily this year, but now my other favorites, foxgloves, were much harder to find, but I still got two of them.
My son is going to try to grow some wild flowers, and I’m going to see if I can get so,e sunflowers going soon too.

We have two huge bushes of oregano, I don't know what I'm going to do with all of it. I guess I could try drying some.
We also have thyme, sage, and lavender. Cilantro didn't make it. Need to start some basil.
I don't know the names of all the flowers we've got blooming, except irises on one side of the house. My wife usually does the gardening.

I forgot to dig up this thread I see what you did there! I went kind of insane this year with a full scale grow operation and started a ton of seeds, swapped a bunch of seedlings with my garden club (hot crone shit) and now the situation is kind of out of hand. I am currently growing: garlic (2 kinds) peppers (Hatch, Big Jim, jalafuego, Calabrese, Shishito and some mystery dudes) okra (2 kinds) blueberries raspberries (2 kinds) cucumbers (2 kinds) leeks peas and no less than 13 kinds of tomatoes pls send help also lettuce, chard, rhubarb, various herbs and flowers

Dang, garlic is a very good idea. I wanted to grow something different this year, but couldn't find anything interesting enough while I was looking. I'll keep my eye out for some.

It's my first time trying it, you actually plant it in the fall so it's been a long wait so far. Should be getting scapes from them soon at least.
The good thing is it's a natural pest repellent so while it's taking up a lot of space currently, I can plant stuff around it and it should keep the bugs away.

I currently have a metric ass ton of shishito peppers so I have started pickling them. Holy shit they're good. Kinda taste like lil pepperoncinis.
Does anyone want any shishitos pls send help
Also as an update, the garlic harvest went well, I have a great deal of garlic now but it stores for a pretty long time. Would recommend!

I was going to ask about the garlic, is that from what you were growing over the winter? And dumb question, I don't recall seeing garlic seeds anywhere, are those in those normal packets in the store? I'd like to try that over the winter too.

Yes, the kind I got you plant in the fall and harvest in July or so. You can find seed garlic at a garden store probably a little later in the season, I got mine online at Filaree but I think I'm going to look elsewhere for next year. I think you can also just take a head of garlic that you get at a farmer's market (probably not from the grocery store, those might be treated to prevent sprouting) and plant the cloves from that.

I was walking the dog and a neighbor offered me a cucumber in a trade. I've never seen this man in my life. I agreed to trade him a zucchini at a later date. He's going to win this trade since our zucchini are insanely large.

About a week before the new baby came I took over my wife's watering duties after having had little interest in plants.
Somehow it became one of my favorite parts of the day. Tending to something that low maintenance made a huge difference in my mood. So now I'm buying plants. Just bought some carnivorous ones actually. We're also growing strawberries.

It's hard to explain how enjoyable it is. It's not cost effective in the least, and sometimes not even tasty. But it is satisfying.

I grew exactly one beautiful butternut squash this year and if anything happens to it before I can turn it into soup I will be legit devastated mookie now is the time to start looking for seed garlic (planting maybe Oct/Nov). Lots of places are sold out already but my garden club is going to do a bulk order if you want to get in on it. My crop did pretty well this year, super fresh garlic is delicious!

We had terrible luck with almost everything we planted this year - this summer has been pretty rough in Denver with the lack of moisture and the extreme heat.
