Ugh, so sorry to hear that scoots. I feel like I overplanted so much this year I didn't mind as much when things failed (sooooo many things failed)

I was walking the dog and a neighbor offered me a cucumber in a trade. I've never seen this man in my life. I agreed to trade him a zucchini at a later date. He's going to win this trade since our zucchini are insanely large. Idk if you are still getting zucchini but my friend gave me some and I made David Lebovitz's Zucchini Cake with Crunchy Lemon Glaze and it was hella good (and vegan, tbh I'd cut the olive oil in half next time)

I definitely over planted, none of my bell peppers were really able to grow. Had a good amount of jalapenos and cherry tomatoes though. I'll take a look at my garden store to see about the garlic, otherwise I'll definitely go in with you alady

Not sure how close it is to you, but I just confirmed that Pesche's got a shipment in today, too.

Not sure how close it is to you, but I just confirmed that Pesche's got a shipment in today, too. I could go there on my way home from my office, assuming I go in at all next week. I'll give that one a shot if the place closer to me does not have any. Thanks again!

Not sure it will last till next week - goes fast this time of year. Otherwise, you could hit up a farmer's market this weekend and see if any of those growers are selling some. Good luck!

I had zero luck at the gardening place by me, they do a big pumpkin thing each year and already switched over to that. So if you still can, please add me for that group order

How's your garden doing?
Natives and perennials are coming up in the yard, even my peonies are getting pretty big already.
9 kinds of tomatoes, Big Jim and Hatch peppers, melons, cosmos and dahlias started in the house and should be ready to pot up this weekend or next.
Also Christy Webber had a big pottery sale over the weekend, I'm going to put this one on my radar every year. 75% off a huge selection of planters, I got five enormous pots (biggest one is maybe 18"-20" across and I can barely pick it up) for $100.

Did all the weeding this weekend, so my garden is all set to go. My garlic is about ready to dig up, about 60% probably made it (a critter must have gotten to some of them or something). Still deciding what veggies to plant this year, my son is alot more interested this time, so he will help me out.

Heh, yesterday I bought thyme at the store and then I walked around my house later that day to find that there is already a bunch of it already grown and ready.

Weather has been nice though, mine is definitely getting bigger. I think I harvested in July last year.

I'll leave them be, they aren't taking up too much space at least. The leaves sticking out do look pretty healthy, so I'll just wait a few weeks.

Yeah, there's still scapes to be had! You want to harvest when the first 2-3 leaves have turned brown. And you can always pull a few and check how they're doing.
The good thing is you can plant all around it, and it's supposed to keep some pests away from other plants.
*ok update from my garden club, they say to fertilize now, and make sure to water a lot around the June solstice as that's when the bulbs form.

what are your tips for fending off rabbits? we have tried several ways of deterring rabbits from our yard and nothing works. i would rather not use chicken-wire to fence in a 10x5 area where we're trying to grow some new things in our front yard. but that may be the only thing that actually works.

Put some cheap wire wastebaskets over the plants you want to protect.

Speaking of rabbits, I grew some dahlias last year and they did really well, so this year I went down a rabbit hole on fancy dahlias and planted a bunch in the front yard, but they all rotted. Of course the cheap ones I got from Aldi are doing amazing. Just ordered a second fancy batch and I hope they make it/have enough time to grow.
Also harvested my softneck garlic (Inchelium Red) over the weekend, and some blueberries. Other than that not a whole lot going on just yet, my spring greens have bolted and I got a late start with peppers, tomatoes and eggplant so it'll be a little while.

We got Italian Parsley and Cilantro growing this year! We tried last year, but they didn't take. I'm happy because those are the two herbs I most commonly buy at the grocery store.
