People are acting like everyone on the board watched the same set of movies or something. I have a feeling this will be more true when we see the whole list

#20. Support the GirlsTotal points: 152 RT Rating: 93% Highest List Rating: goodson - #1 "Only the final scene of Bujalski’s heroines howling at the sky seems contrived to appease those #MeToo folks back in New York. It reminded me that whenever I ran into Steven Spielberg and Tony Kushner, I used to always tell them that they should make a film of Kushner’s musical play Caroline, or Change about a black female domestic worker. (This was before Spielberg and Kushner went off the deep end into Obama idolatry in Lincoln.)" - Armond White, National Review #19. Minding The GapTotal points: 164 RT Rating: 100%Highest List Rating: postfontaine - #4 "“Minding the Gap” meanders in parts and sometimes relies too heavily on redundant footage, but it contains a staggering degree of maturity for a movie directed and focused on such young subjects." - Eric Kohn, IndieWire #18. A Star Is BornTotal points: 167 RT Rating: 90% Highest List Rating: BitteOrca - #4 "Lachrymose at its base, this version is just unabashed Hollywood merchandising. It sells a bald-faced PC checklist: white-male weakness, feminist bravado, servile and obsequious blacks, Latins and queers — none of this particularly enlivened by Cooper and Gaga’s competing narcissism." - Armond White, National Review #17. Black PantherTotal points: 172 RT Rating: 97% Highest List Rating: teekoh - #4 "What motivates their methods of racial exploitation are confirmed by this week’s Time magazine: Its cover features Boseman, Black Panther’s star, handsomely replacing Time’s infamously racist, darkened O. J. cover, to prove that the publication has abandoned journalism to become a social-justice-warrior pamphlet." - Armond White, National Review #16. Avengers: Infinity WarTotal points: 175 RT Rating: 85% Highest List Rating: Timbo - #2 (suck it) "What academics call “narrativity” (employing memory and structural awareness in storytelling — the secret to John Boorman’s Excalibur) here gets steamrolled by busyness and chronic fits of campy, facetious jokes between swashbuckling hunks Thor, Star-Lord, and erectile-dysfunction-sufferer the Hulk." - Armond White, National Review

yesssssss, my greatest contribution to this list is ya'll having to see Infinity War in the final list.
Also, thumbs up to Armond on A Star Is Born. Another overly hyped piece of crap.

#15. The Death of StalinTotal points: 179 RT Rating: 96% Highest List Rating: Neader / rango420 - #3 "Iannucci certainly deserves credit for even attempting to tackle a movie whose very existence sounds like a joke: If only the end result were as funny as the idea that anyone would undertake a film about the turmoil surrounding the Soviet despot’s demise." - Peter Debruge, Variety #14. ShopliftersTotal points: 197 RT Rating: 99% Highest List Rating: sthubbins - #2 "It is, in the end, impossible not to wonder what Koreeda set out to accomplish with this meandering mess, as Shoplifters, by and large, comes off as a half-baked sketch of an idea that crawls along for the duration of its often interminable running time." - David Busair, Reel Film Reviews #13. Game NightTotal points: 199 RT Rating: 84% Highest List Rating: xamnam - #5 "What’s particularly frustrating is that an early, all-too-brief stretch of the film, in which the characters sit around playing Charades, is giddier and more alive than any of the high jinks that follow. You may wish the movie had simply unfolded as a series of loosey-goosey regular game-night scenes rather than straining so hard for shoot-’em-up cred." - Jon Frosch, The Hollywood Reporter #12. The Ballad of Buster ScruggsTotal points: 200 RT Rating: 91% Highest List Rating: iasm - #4 "This entire project turns patriotic nostalgia into decadence. It’s an Ocasio-Cortez concept: to denounce the American past while getting freakish, googly-eyed enjoyment out of it. (Okay, it’s also Tarantino-esque.)" - Armond White, National Review #11. If Beale Street Could TalkTotal points: 214 RT Rating: 94% Highest List Rating: concertgoer - #2 "This scene is disastrous: a battle between the sexes, generations, and social beliefs portrayed as a family fracas. Black Christianity, Baldwin’s life-long agon, is ridiculed. Pious, worldly, and political skepticism all break down into belligerence and violence — think Amos ’n’ Andy for the #MeToo era, or The Jeffersons for Black Lives Matter zealots." - Armond White, National Review

Following the trend of people agreeing with Armond's conclusions without endorsing his worldview, I agree that that Beale Street scene was bad

#10. Spiderman: Into the SpiderverseTotal points: 215 RT Rating: 97% Highest List Rating: xamnam - #2 That's all it is, Miles. A leap of faith."The temerity of retelling a Spider-Man tale by pandering to the nonwhite demographic (and those who flatter themselves for condescending to it) reveals how brazen the media have become. The film’s ultra comic-book effects resemble Edgar Wright’s video-game extremis in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, but I miss the humanity of that film and will not settle for animated substitutes." - Armond White, National Review

I thought the scene was good and tonally informed the movie Yeah an elegant, lyrical movie needed a bunch of didactic broad strokes to set the tone. If you mean that it indicated that the movie is a melodrama then yes it did that while also being hard to watch

#9. Eighth Grade Total points: 233 RT Rating: 99% Highest List Rating: chvrchbarrel - #1 I'd love her because she's my daughter, but I think if she turned out like me that being her mum would make me really sad."Writer-director Bo Burnham, who is 28 years old, expects viewers to both identify with Kayla and feel superior to her. It’s indie-movie self-pity, served-up with obvious, preening social criticism. The Apple-Pixar-Marvel era pressures adolescence even while alienating it, and wannabe-viral star Kayla personifies this condition." - Armond White, National Review
