Wait, where is Capernaum? On CG's list alone.

I guess that it mostly comes down to what movies were most liked but also and most importantly, most watched
Hence also why Cold War, Death of Staline, Shoplifters, If Beale Street Could Talk and even Blackklansman don't rank any higher...

I originally totaled it up by top 50 before remembering what the usual cutoff was, here's the difference that resulted: i.imgur.com/pEel9lW.png

I didn't submit a list this year as I think I only watched about ten 2018 movies, most of which were foreign films moreover. Also, there are several others (e.g. Cold War, The Favourite, If Beale Street Could Talk) that I have yet to watch.
They shall not grow old would have probably been my own #1 but at the same time, maybe it is considered primarily as a documentary

#3. Sorry to Bother YouTotal points: 407 RT Rating: 93% Highest List Rating: monasterymonochrome / teekoh - #1 Welcome, Cassius Green. I hope you have not masturbated today. We need you sharp and ready to go."But there’s a messy, first-draft quality to how the film fits said ideas together, and a general sloppiness to the execution, with Riley botching the timing on too many jokes. Once Armie Hammer shows up as the company’s amoral CEO, tilting the plot into sci-fi dystopian lunacy, even Stanfield can’t keep Sorry To Bother You anchored to any emotional or political reality. Hit-or-miss zaniness swallows whole the project’s good intentions." - A.A. Dowd, AV Club Guess nobody but me was bothered by the star of this film’s homophobic rap? Great job being progesssive y’all

Great job being progesssive y’all Haven't seen (and won't see) that movie, but sadly that doesn't surprise me the least. This board (at least some boarders) seems to have a sweet blind spot for some of the most offensive lyrics-writing rappers (ref exchanges when MacMiller died)

I mean, considering that it that occurred well after the film's theater window, and I'd honestly never heard about it until you brought it up, I'm not surprised it doesn't seem to have colored perception of the movie.

Thanks for doing this xam.
My favorite weird critic thing is that Armond White and Richard Brody are both big Scott Pilgrim fans.

I mean, considering that it that occurred well after the film's theater window It happened two weeks before the film was released in theaters and was covered by nearly every major music site

Oh, wow, I really thought that had been a spring release. Totally wrong there.
But, as established recently here, music sites aren't worth going on.

I had no idea it even happened.
Maybe ask people if they knew about it before basically accusing the board of being bigots, but hey, you're bitteorca, so par for the course.

His apology was reasonable considering the fact that he has loads of videos on his youtube channel where he raps as different characters. I don't think it's wild that an actor will play different characters in his videos, and he apologized for the freestyle and took it down because he recognized it was offensive.

"The movie, though set in the 1990s, is a perverse mirror of the millennium’s immorality. That’s how McCarthy can play this role using the same straight face with which she has conducted a career exploiting the female misbehavior and slatternliness that ought to be a scandal for the #MeToo era" Armond's mind is too powerful. We don't deserve him. wowwwww armond
