Just wrapped up Watchmen yesterday, and I loved it. Such an interesting show that confuses you 90% of the time until it all gets wrapped up amazingly at the end. Awesome backstories, and some killer performances from Regina King and Jeremy Irons. I'm ok with no season 2, I feel like season 1 told a great story and it was pretty well wrapped up. If they were going to go into a second season what would it be (unless they told a totally different story kinda like True Detective). I don't know how they'd continue on S1 without it becoming a superhero TV show with Angela essentially being Superman. I'm sure they would spend half a season as she discovered her powers, but then it'd just be Superman after that.
Or else she'd start out a good guy but slowly become a villain and they'd just rehash the second half of this season's themes that no human should have demi-god powers.
Either option doesn't sound great to me. Basically I'm very ok that this ends after 1 season.

I don't think season 2 would use the same characters. It would probably be a new story.

new Curb was pretty funny but will also definitely get a lot of flack for trying too hard and will get real tired real quick if the whole season is Larry pretending to be a MAGA guy and also constantly accidentally getting Me Too'd.

the newest ep of the stuff you should know podcast is about the 1921 race riots in tulsa that apparently were depicted in the watchmen. it's a good listen if anyone is interested.

Idk it could be because I haven’t seen it in awhile but I was absolutely howling through the whole thing. “Jeff looks like Harvey” is going to be a great joke all season. Also, I just about cried laughing when Larry said ”you don’t need to call when you land - if the plane crashes, we’ll know.” I think they’re going to focus mostly on the coffee shop and Cheryl. Already can’t wait to watch more.

Yeah the first 10 minutes felt like "People like it when Larry gets mad and into arguments, let's give them what they want!" and it was total overkill. Hit it's stride once they got to the party. Y'all got my favorite bits but him nonchalantly knocking over the byrds was hilarious too.

that opening shot is basically larry just checking off all the things that pissed him off during the time between seasons. selfie sticks, scooters, etc. it was great but im glad they knocked it all out in one bit and aren't stretching each little thing into a full episode.

Agreed. It felt inspired in a way the show hasn't in awhile. There were definitely clunky moments but I don't think there ver hasn't been on Curb and it was funnier than it's been in a minute. Looking forward to this season

New Curb is great, I belly laughed several times.
I think I've set the record for most TV watched in a weekend.

I watched John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch this evening and really enjoyed it. Seems like it's the best version of the kind of thing that it is. I didn't find it particularly condescending either which was nice

I didn't find it particularly condescending either which was nice i heard him say he's more proud about it than anything else he's done. i enjoyed it, though i think most people really liked mr. music and i was so-so on that whole bit.

Started up on His Dark Materials last night. Got through 2 episodes and really enjoy it. Ruth Wilson is amazing (as she is in everything). It helps to have the backstory but I don't think someone who hasn't read the books would be too lost, they seem to describe the Daemons and their connections to humans pretty well, and the Magisterium is pretty self explanatory. Dust is obviously vague but that's the point at this stage.
Looking forward to binging the rest of the season this week.

I watched the first episode of the New Pope. I was bummed that they reset at the end of episode. Made it feel very trivial. Why not just get to the story you actually plan to tell? But maybe it'll be more significant than it seems.

We started The Crown last night. Despite the fact that I don't really care about the monarchy, and obviously know what's coming, they do a great job of making you feel for what is happening. I was surprised they cast an American as Churchill, but Lithgow crushes so good on them. High quality drama for those into that sort of thing, would recommend based on what I've seen so far. We're about halfway into season 2 now, and middle section of the venn diagram of GoT actors & Crown actors is really starting to fill up. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but the Brits really love recycling the same actors over and over.

Probably one of the best shows I can have on in the background tune in and out of on a Sunday while just browsing the Internet on my laptop.

Shrill on Hulu is great. Aidy Bryant of SNL has managed to bring in some of the most awkward but endearing characters that you cheer for one moment then loathe the next. Just finished season 2, good stuff.

The Outsider wasn't bad tonight or anything, all of the performances are still good and its still fun and campy but it feels like its gonna get quite slow for a bit.
Larry's resignation after his cancer pitch to Cheryl fails into the reveal of the Susie painting was as funny a 4 minute stretch of curb as can be but boy did it feel like there were alot of plot lines tonight even for a show with so many plot lines.

was not huge into Curb last night. the painting bit was funny but everything was kind of a rushed mess.
like they literally had to cut the show short halfway through a joke that wasn't super funny to begin with
