Girlfriend and I have been watching Schitt's Creek. It's amusing enough that we've started the second season.

watching the Great (British) Interior Design Challenge because my wife and I bought a house and are now legally obligated to watch interior design shows. These Brits are on one. In one of the episodes they were designing apartments that were originally intended for people in the British film industry so the contestant made his and hers director's chairs for the client AND his and hers pillows that said "Gracie Fields" and "Alec Guinness" on them. I like the show though, very similar tone to GBBO

Watchmen spoilers below: Once it was revealed that Dr. Manhattan was living in Tulsa the rest of the pieces came together and I realized it had to be Cal. After the closing sequence where they put the Dr. Manhattan symbol or whatever in the HBO logo, it seems obvious that there is some sort of tie in to the whole cyclops thing, but I can't figure out exactly what. Very excited for the final two episodes. It was a good episode, there was some awkwardness to it in spots for me. The brief glimpse of Manhattan at the beginning looked horrible CGI wise, and the courtroom scene was just silly. Overall tho, I'm enjoying it and am also looking forward to the conclusion. Definitely a loaded second half of the season.

The new Mike Birbiglia standup special was very good. He's been consistently one of my favorites since Sleepwalk w/ Me. Still bummed I missed him in NYC when our flight had to circle LGA for like 3 hours.

I'm about halfway through the second season of Succession. Best show I've seen in a long time.

Started Watchmen this weekend. Happy I waited to binge it because even as recent as the last episode this season just feels like one giant setup and would feel even more painstakingly slow in a non-binge format. Almost every episode follows the same formula of someone doing something in 2019 for 10 minutes that we don't understand, then a 40 minute flashback to like 1980 where we get the character's background and history and how they tie in, and then back in 2019 for the last 5 minutes to try and wow you, "Oh! It makes so much sense now!" Regarding last night Dr. Manhattan pisses me off. If you are pretty much a God, who can create and destroy life, and see the future, and you're like doing nothing for the world, what the hell is wrong with you? I don't get it. Knows he's going to die, has the power to change it, and just accepts it. Maybe it'll be one of those Dr. Strange "This is the only way" but at least with Dr. Strange it made sense because even though he could see the future he did not have enough power or influence it to change it like Manhattan.

The series finale of SV was surprisingly excellent, considering that with two episodes left, it seemed like there was no way they were going to be able to sufficiently wrap things up.

we started the Mandalorian last night, finally. it is the most fine a middle of the road, fan-appeasing, relatively uninteresting group of recognizable voices can be from something that probably never needed to exist in the first place. the dialog is VERY prequelly. the visuals are generally pretty nice but it's got a michael bay editing thing going on during action sequences that drives me insane. not exactly great at pacing either. werner herzog should be in every scene though. ever. it also probably relies a bit too much on canon that isn't explicitly in the 11 films. that certainly doesnt bother me since i've got a decent knowledge of the games and shows and whatnot, but Eric legitimately thought Baby Yoda WAS actually Yoda as a child and that the show was taking place long before Phantom Menace. i had to reset the story for him and explain it's between 6 and 7 and that Yoda is just one of a whole race that ages weirdly. he wasn't thrilled

I had a bad feeling that things were going to go one very lazy, incredibly Mike Judge-y way and was surprised at what we got.

wow okay ended up watching the first 5 episodes of Watchmen yesterday and holy shit. absolutely worth the hype. style is awesome, new characters are great, old characters are what they probably would be after 30 years of bullshit...just really well done all around. reznor and ross really stand out this time and the visual components are jaw dropping.
dont wanna talk about it too much until i catch up, cause a few coworkers already spoiled one or two things for me. but this and chernobyl are pretty much gonna run away as my favorite shows this year, it seems.

Apparently another season of The New Pope premiers next month. Might have to watch that first season again to remember what the fuck happens in it

It’s weird because the first season was called The Young Pope and now this is a follow up series to it. Same writers and everything it seems
