P4k just posted a great article on this This reads really dumb to me: “Kanye flat-out said he would’ve voted for Trump. I’m actually not certain of that moment. Was he saying, “I would vote on Trump”? “I would vote for Trump”? It was unclear.”

I'll put the over/under on the Pitchfork rating for the new album at 9.0 to start

I'm sure Kanye picked up some high profile Twitter follows too. Does the Nuge tweet?

9.1 points loss for brevity.
what started as seemingly a foolish publicity stunt for contrarianists around the world has been collected into a laser-focused record that harps on the roughest edges of america's current socio-political divide, particularly on the Lil Uzi Vert featured track "Move on Her Like a Bitch" and the ELO sampling single "Covfefe." the liner notes even include credit to once beloved american rockers Three Doors Down.

Between that and the "he needs to take his meds" comment, CG is leading the bad takes in this thread.

This is literally what he does every single album cycle back to fucking Graduation. Imma go quote teekoh again cause he's the only one whose said anything remotely intelligent in this thread today. Also, this is an accepted megalomaniac artist gearing up for the release of several albums. Not that folks shouldn't pay attention to what he says, but lending it any undue importance or value seems absolutely insane to me.

Every media outlet is talking about Kanye West right now, so arguably he's effectively using Twitter no matter if you agree or disagree with him.

Acting like Kanye tweeting himself in a MAGA hat (when we have a dangerous and violent group of people who relish in that shit in our society) isn't him being extremely irresponsible and is "Kanye just being Kanye" is fucking dumb and screams privilege. This shit helps fuels and legitimize those actions and thoughts.

But yeah the P4K article says what ive been saying and thinking. He's still not pro trump policies but that shit still has negative consequences.
"It’s not a matter of Kanye saying, “I like Trump’s policies,” or, “I like Candace Owens’ ideology.” It’s that he is attracted to the ways they move within the world, and part of those moves is against what is understood as the popular norm. And I think Kanye needs a much more nuanced analysis. He needs to have someone provide for him a much deeper context for his comments...What he’s calling “pushing” and “deprogramming” is really moving people in these directions that they never thought they could move in. Part of what is sad about this moment is that I think with his discourse around Trump, his discourse around Candace Owens, he thinks he is doing the same thing, when in fact it’s not. It’s actually feeding a very conservative, anti-black pulse in this country. And I don’t think he can afford to continue in this direction."

Not that folks shouldn't pay attention to what he says, but lending it any undue importance or value seems absolutely insane to me. This one feels different because every other time he's done something like you're describing his core fanbase could easily laugh it off and say "yeah he's a bit of a dick but I love him for it". This time isn't like that. Kanye with his 28 million twitter followers is spreading the message of alt-right personalities and allowing himself to be used as a prop for MAGA chuds including Trump and Trump Jr. Whether he's doing it just because he has new albums coming up or not, fuck him for that.

I was interested to hear from people like Chance who actually spoke with him to hear where his headspace was at. That's more interesting to me then reading magazine thinkpieces or stories about Twitter unfollows.
