I wasn't around that far back but for a while I think they just published articles based on rumors that were posted here.

It was more due to the fact that their writers couldn't read or write.

Yeah it was/is shoddy reporting and writing. They've drawn the ire of the internet by taking info from message boards and not citing their source (eventually they started posting direct links to Inforoo, I don't remember if they ever did with the old board). TBF in recent years they've had some legitimate scoops, although from what AB says they're the only publication that cares about breaking music festival scoops anymore.

really tho it's just terrible writing with no source checking or even spell checking and a lot of their "scoops" come from internet rumors via message boards and reddit. some of which pan out but most dont. they dont reach out for comment or confirmation and just let social media ride their articles into the dirt and take no heat for always being wrong.

TBF in recent years they've had some legitimate scoops, although from what AB says they're the only publication that cares about breaking music festival scoops anymore. The major papers absolutely don't care anymore. The torch was passed to sights like CoS, Brooklyn Vegan, etc. It takes effort to find the scoop and do your homework to make 100% sure it's fact. CoS hear a scoop from, say, a C3 employee and roll with it. Anyone around here knows by now that things can change awfully quick with festival bookings where one minute you're slated to perform and the next thing you know something falls through and you are out.

I remember Alex Young and one other guy (Roffman?) were super pissy about our negative feedback when CoS initially started up. They were so blatantly taking info from the board and calling it their own. Then that whole "Roger Waters is headlining Bonnaroo" scoop happened and they don't come around her anymore.

It's really not difficult to have a quick QA of the articles being posted and make sure, you know, you're not making up a venue in a tour itinerary.

I remember the first time I camped at Bonnaroo being surprised that it doesn't happen more often. So many people doing a ton of alcohol/drugs with no water and then going back to a tent that never cools down at night.

Yeah, sad as it is it surprises me it's not a yearly event. 60,000 people, with a large portion of them doing drugs, drinking large amounts of booze and generally not looking after themselves and spending 4 full days in Tennessee summer heat with no real reprieve...sounds like a recipe for disaster. At least at Lolla, even with all the Perry's kids, you're essentially forced to go to an air conditioned bed at the end of the day.

It's like willingly going to a George Harrison show and complaining you were triggered by the sitar playing.

Apparently it was an extremely loud pyrotechnic effect and it could be heard from a ton of different areas over the sound of the set. If I was in line for something to eat or whatever at a festival and without knowing anything about an Eminem set in 2018 heard what sounded distinctly like loud ass gunshots, I would be unsettled at least.
