Apparently it's going to be around 55K this year, so up a little bit from last year.

Of course.
Adam Scott can no longer make it to Bonnaroo because Ghosted got picked up.

I'm so embarrassed I'm going to this festival that I'm not even going to check-in to it on Facebook.

The new Other looks awful. It's pretty much Perry's. Can confirm after seeing Goldfish.

I had a lot more fun that I expected.
Top 5 of the weekend in order:
1. Chance - Last time I saw him was P4K so this was my first time seeing him since Coloring Book, and wow. I never found his live performances to be particularly good but everything about this performance was on point. He seems like he has his athsma under control, wasn't ever out of breath and rapped almost all the lyrics. Kanye portion was hype too. Best show I've seen this year.
2. Superjam - A good dance party (somewhat), really fun. Setlist:
Everybody dance now - pres hall Happy - Jon batiste Get up offa that thing - flint Eastwood Super freak - boyfriend Little red corvette - rayland Baxter Hand Clapping Song - George Porter Jr. Can I Kick It - Lecrae Love and Happiness - Lukas Nelson & Margo Price Time is on my side - Nicole Atkins Waterfalls - Joseph 24K Magic - Jason Huber Keep the Same Old Feeling -Tank ATB Ain't nothin but a G Thang - Chance Hey Ya - Chance
Obviously Chance was a highlight but the whole thing was great. I kinda wish they didn't announce Chance, not just because it would've been a great surprise but also because so many people were there just to see him. Multiple people were doign that dumb oooo-WEEEE thing he does to try and call him out or something. Even had a dude next to me tell his friend, "When are they going to bring out Chance? That's the only reason anyone is here." As a result the crowd was NOT what it should've been for a set like this. People sitting around waiting for Chance instead of grooving to the music. The one in 13 was better but this was still great.
3. Angelique Kidjo - Probably my favorite crowd of the weekend. Not too many people where it felt packed but everyone was really into it. She's a force to be reckoned with and her band is tight as well.
4. The XX - Much better than their Coachella set. Danced my ass off.
5. Future Islands - Never seen them live before. Sam is a phenomenal frontman.
Other sets I saw
The Orwells - Great even though they didn't play Mallrats
Kevin Abstract - Good
Car Seat Headrest - Better than Coachella as well. Brought up a girl who apparently sends them videos of her playing cowbells to their songs for Hippie Powers which was cool.
DRAM - Decent
Noname - She was excellent, but a 37 min set when slotted for an hour is poor
Lorde - Good but better than Coachella, had some technical difficulties that delayed her a half hour, fortunately she still did a full set
U2 - When they came out, wow. I don't think I've ever seen anyone with as much of a presence as U2. But after the first 6 songs and when they started to get into the album and away from the hits I lost interest pretty quickly.
After not being there for 3 years I forgot how great this fest is. Little things like the grove (which is kickass), the comedy tent, all the good food, the fountain, etc. Roo does have a lot of cool things that I forgot about that make it special. The people are annoying though. Maybe I'm getting old but I'm getting really tired of hearing crowds sing Just a Friend every 20 mins like it's the funniest thing ever and everyone yelling happy roo and all that shit.
Attendance being down was noticeable for the headliners. Was able to get pretty close to anyone I wanted to. Chance was the most packed set I saw which isn't surprising, it's possible RHCP was more packed but I didn't go.
The weather was perfect as well. The first night was freezing and the second one was bad too but it was fine after that. We had great weather throughout the day and a lot of cloud cover, it was wonderful.
Overall, it was an amazing time. Even with an admittedly shitty lineup I was still able to see some pretty great acts and am really happy I went (though it was a free ticket). Sincerely hope that they put out a good lineup in the future, I sorely missed #rooballz throughout the fest. If I'm in Nashville I'll probably find a way back next year if the lineup doesn't get worse (knock on wood).
