Again it’s not typical for us to have highs below zero in the winter. I don’t mind winter here nearly as much since as I did in Michigan since I don’t have to drive a car in this weather.

as dumb as it sounds I really miss walking inside somewhere after being freezing outside. that wave of warmth is the best feeling.

I will say that driving in Madison in the snow is significantly better than Peoria since they actually fucking plow here.
At least in my 72 hours of experience

Also I’ll put up with weather like this in exchange for actually being able to spend time outside in the summer.

You get used to it. It's not like what's happening right now is something that happens every winter. Really? I feel like we always have at least one or two really bad days each winter. Walking on the unshoveled sidewalk this morning sucked. Totally gave my lower calves a workout.

No I don't recall too many stretches like what you guys are seeing this week. It obviously gets below zero for a couple of days here and there, but I don't recall that many days like what you'll see on Wednesday.

I think the stat I saw thrown around is Wednesday might be the coldest since 1994 for a lot of midwest areas.

I'm absolutely down with this until it all melts, and then freezes. I'm not built for that shit.

I'm going in tomorrow. I'm going on vacation Thursday morning and will be out the next three work days, I can't really afford to work from home tomorrow. Luckily I'm less than a five minute walk from the train on both ends of my commute, and it looks good for me to fall on this grenade so the rest of my team can work from home.

I was back in the office during that blizzard that stranded a bunch of cars on LSD - our office closed the next day, and I was the only one that came in since I was staying at a hotel just down the street. It was weird.

After standing on the platform for ten minutes they announced that Brown lines are standing at Irving due to a loss of power. I'm working from home for the time being, but I'll have to go in to get my laptop for tomorrow at some point. It's cold out there, don't go out if you don't have to.

I was on a train siting at the Kimball station waiting this out. Ended up moving around 8:25. Train was packed, but the rest of the commute was uneventful.

They sent an email saying my office is still open tomorrow. However, our parking lots have tons of reserved spots, mostly based on seniority (there's a ton of people here who have been here 25+ years). They said that you can park anywhere you want tomorrow if you come in. So it'll be a free-for-all in the morning.

I was once stuck at an outback with a voucher late at night in upstate new york so I ordered the most expensive steak on teh menu and i think it had been in the freezer for at least a decade. Mcdonald's steak bagel which is just a burger patty with more water was better it was truly terrible so i guess warn him from engaging that curious part of hte brain.
Bloomin onion was tight tho I guess i had like a 5k calorie meal
