I’m in Key West right now. It’s 80 degrees and sunny. Supposed to fly home tomorrow from MIA, sort of hoping flight gets canceled.

My co-workers who live out in the western burbs seem to be relatively snowed in. They all WFH today.

at least none of you have had a few 4.4 earthquakes and snow flurries and 10* temps like we’ve had the last 12 hours in okc.

Almost 17 years in this house and this was the first time we had to move down to the basement just in case. This was a bad storm tonight

Found out there was an EF-0 tornado touchdown just about 3 blocks away from my house on Tuesday, so that was tons of fun

First day was technically yesterday, I think, but whatever. Give this one a listen and enjoy the day

A huge hail storm came through around midnight last night. Broke a bunch of lights on our back patio, but otherwise just kind of scary to go through. I haven't heard hail hit our windows that hard with previous storms. We're apparently pretty fortunate - there's a lot of damage throughout the area.

7 inches of snow on the ground so far, another 7-14 inches called for tomorrow. My parents and brother are already somewhere in Nebraska and will be driving through this. Also school has already been cancelled for tomorrow.
Shit week.

Our flight from Dallas to Santa Fe was diverted to Albuquerque because of the winter storm. Rented a car and drove from ABQ to Santa Fe which was a white knuckle journey but arrived safely. Tried to grab a bite to eat at one of the places scoots recommended but they had closed an hour early due to the weather. The Lucero show went on as planned, however. It was still snowing lightly in the morning. Seemed like Santa Fe got maybe eight inches of accumulation by my estimate. Tried to visit a couple of museums Thursday morning but everything was closed. Drove back to ABQ to visit with Ted - his place has been without power since late Wednesday night. Spent the day/night bundled up around the living room fireplace. Overnight low was in the 20s. Most recent estimate is for power to be restored tonight by 11pm.

Really glad my parents decided to come through Nebraska instead of Kansas otherwise they would have had to turn back - most of the snow is falling on the i70 corridor, and they've shut down 70 from Limon east to the border with Kansas. We've got about a foot on the ground in Denver.

We've got about a foot on the ground in Denver. Saw those signs on my trips back and forth in September and October and even though it seemed way too early for snow I was still...a little nervous lol

How warm were you able to keep it inside?? That is NUTS. Hope you guys are alright. Warm enough that I felt a little chilly with multiple layers plus hat and gloves, but not so uncomfortable that I couldn’t sleep. Woke up freezing a few times when the fire died out and threw some more logs on. Ted’s dog slept on Mrs. Doso’s legs which helped keep her warm. The next door neighbor has a genny and graciously offered to let us run an extension cord over to the boiler so it seems like the heating system is slowly but surely ramping up. Hopefully a more comfortable night tonight!

This was the first snow of the season in the Chicago area, yes?
Everyone at work was super grumpy about it - I thought it was great. Does anyone else enjoy the first snowfall?

I love the first snowfall but I missed the part of the weather forecast (or ignored it as they tend to exaggerate) that this was going to be a legit snow. I was not prepared for the walk to my car and having to legit clean it off to go get my lunch.

Agreed, I also love snow but there was an element of surprise with this one and I wasn't ready for it. It hasn't even really been cold yet, I was still picking tomatoes, peppers and eggplant on Tuesday.
Also it was wet and heavy and unpleasant shoveling.
