It's been like 100 here every day including yesterday which was outdoor wedding + reception for ~12 hrs. It's a dry heat so not terrible, but cannot wait to get to the seaside tomorrow.

Apparently they closed the highway yesterday. My buddy was out skiing on that mountain and was stuck, luckily he was able to get a hotel room.

all the metro okc schools closed today because of windchills below zero or close to it. no snow or ice, just cold - actual temps were around 9 this morning. the university i work at didn't close, but oklahoma state did, which is odd.
i get why they closed, because so many kids are outside waiting on buses or walking to schools, but i'm curious what it takes for schools up north where this is common to close?

-20 degree wind chill was around the point at which lower Michigan schools started closing.

Schools in Kentucky would close if snow was even in the forecast - I think it's just a southern thing.
It would take a lot for schools in Denver to close.

I believe the Madison/Middleton school districts have said that temperatures of -25 or a windchill of -35 is what it takes to cancel

It was usually down to whether or not the buses would start up in the morning, in my district.
Unless there was an enormous blizzard impeding travel, we had school. Plows etc. kept up with our area really well. There were rarely travel issues on our bus routes.

They pulled the trigger early last night and declared public school closed in NYC on Monday. We got about a half foot of snow, but the streets were basically fine this morning and everything was mostly melted by 5pm. <eyeroll>

Would watch an episode where wyoming gets snowed in somewhere with Post Malone. We should revive "Previously, on The Board Dot..." but make it a thread containing episodic descriptions like this

The temp out here got up to the 60s yesterday (it was still 50 as of 8pm), and today everything is closed and a ton of flights cancelled in the midst of the blizzard warning wyoming referenced. Even for Colorado, that's kind of a crazy transition.
No Post Malone sightings yet.

sounds like we're gonna get the 60s tomorrow but then go back down to low 40s over the weekend.

It was so foggy outside on my way to work. Shitload of people getting in accidents. We’re supposed to have snow Friday which is probably gonna turn into some shitty wintery mix

It's supposed to be a thunderstorm in the 60's tomorrow, and I'm thrilled for all the ice that is going to disappear.

There's already a giant snowdrift in our backyard. This storm is kind of nuts.

Seems like you have an easy escape route leading to Colby, the vacation capital of Kansas.

My buddy who lives (lived?) In Denver has a family emergency and is trying to drive home in that bullshit. We finally got him to stop somewhere in Western Nebraska for the night. It doesn't sound like the roads will be much better tomorrow though.
