I could easily do more than 50, but I'm going to cap it at 50

I don't like to do more than 30. Honestly after the top 10 the distinctions become much less meaningful

I don't like making lists.

I'm sitting at 276 albums heard on the year, so capping at 50 might be a little hard. I voted 50+ to be optimistic, but really it'll depend on how much time/thought I feel like putting into this.

No idea how anyone does a list over 30. I'm basically just winging it after 20

This year is good enough where I don't think like 13-25 are all pretty much the same.

Not making a list this year for the first time in a looong time. Did not really listen to enough new music. Abstained from voting, because I refuse to voluntarily state that I am lame.

i think my list right now is at 100 which is way less than the last few years. i have probably another 100 on the "Need to Listen" list that i may just forgo at this point.
i'll probably post all 100 for shits and giggles but i'd be lying if i said i cared about more than 50 of em this year. 2019 was just generally kinda weak for me

I listen to an album at least 3x before I rank it. Feel pretty confident folks can process more than one album a month.

I usually do 50, and I have enough albums to do that as usual, and was looking forward to doing it again, but this year it just seems so... pointless. More-so than usual. Dunno.

I keep a pretty good ranking going throughout the year of everything I listen to more than once. This year it topped out around 90 albums.
Then there is always "the reckoning" where I'm typing out the final list and making adjustments based on things I never kept listening to. I stop ranking when I get to a point where I lose track of what I actually liked better than what. This year it stopped right around 50 which made it easy.
There are also albums I listen to multiple times that I just never latch onto and don't feel right ranking, like Weyes Blood this year.

I've made enough of these lists by now to know I'm not really saying much of anything by putting up a 50 album list. Who cares what my 37th favorite album of 2013 was? At a certain point, I am just splitting hairs on the ordering. I understand people who catalog throughout the year posting it because they always have a running list of what they've heard on hand. I'll keep mine short and sweet at 20, but I may just outright delete it too.

I don't think anybody necessarily cares about your specific list entries (and I don't share mine anywhere else), but as a greater "what were the board's favorite albums" project i think its worth listing as many as you liked.

well, in terms of posting a list on the board, the idea of listing a 37th favorite film is giving an album you support a small boost in hopes that it will be recognized on the overall board list.
it's a moot point, i guess, if there isn't a 37th album you care about.

Yeah I am not concerned about Decent Album by Buzz Band getting my downballot votes to leapfrog a minor Animal Collective side project at the bottom of our list.
I don't think these votes really affect the composition of the list all that much.

Pitchfork should actually move to the krentist "who honestly gives a fuck" model of reviewing albums

listing 50+ albums is a great way to get it on the record that you listen to a band before they blow up a year or two later

unless it's played regularly on wxrt or wkqk, I'm not specifically familiar with any 2019 new music.
