The run of ICU-> Graceland Too-> I Know the End is far and away better than anything on Stranger in the Alps. I liked the first record, this felt like a huge step forward for her and I enjoy it more. I see this, but for me the entire front half of SitA is among the best sides of singer-songwriting in the last decade. There's not a miss from Smoke Signals through Scott Street. It's definitely just a me thing, b/c plenty of other people have obviously fallen for Punisher, but nothing has connected with me like any one of those earlier songs.

Getting my spicy takes on the phoebe album ready when it hits #1 Let's do this now. Stranger in the Alps was far and away better than Punisher, no? Obvs happy to see her glow up in such a major way this year, but I was def a lil disappointed in the new record - tho I still liked it enough to land on the back half of my list. I also liked her contributions to Boygenius more than any individual Punisher track. While I loooooove both albums, naw

stranger in the alps is definitely better, punisher is really good tho. i don't really like "i know the end," didn't need to do the big sufjan ending that doesn't really fit the album.

I have a love hate relationship with the track. As a standalone it works but as the finale to the album it doesn't fit. If the album was more uptempo or if there were other moments building to it that would be different. Again, dig the track just not where its at.
