hadnt heard new CP until now. is fine but also just sounds like they were listening to Radiohead and trying way too hard to cover an In_Rainbows song. still better than anything on the last 2 records tho.

Not being the lead doesn't surprise me at all. The Ride hype died off after their initial tour tbh. They played multiple sold-out NYC shows around here during that. Saw them at T5, 3k-cap venue. However, for this tour they got bumped from their one T5 show to Brooklyn Steel (1.8k cap) and that hasn't even sold out. Granted, I'm not too upset by the venue change, T5 is less than great (although the Ride set I saw there was fantastic) and BS is one of my new favorite rooms, but it does feel like they're gonna be playing very much to a niche now.

Cali had the potential for a song of the summer type mantle if it wasn't for that spoken wordish part. It doesn't bother me, but I could see people finding that irritating. At least it wasn't panned entirely though, like Spin. It's got a 75 on Metacritic which is still solid. |

well, he posted last week that the album was done but they were still finishing up some artwork stuff. given that it takes a couple months to press vinyl, and they probably had to build in time for delays, it seems about as early as could be expected.

good point. given what grizzly bear said about it being a heavy indie release year, and their album is in mid-august between these too. some spacing for all involved possibly.
