Foo Fighters to play first concert at The Anthem, new D.C. venue from 9:30 Club’s owners
The Anthem, I.M.P.‘s new concert hall at The Wharf on D.C.‘s Southwest waterfront, has an opening act. Foo Fighters — led by Virginia-bred rocker Dave Grohl — is set to headline the venue’s first show on Oct. 12, I.M.P., the company behind the 9:30 Club, announced today.
“There was never any question about who would open. There was no Plan B,” I.M.P. chairman and 9:30 Club and The Anthem co-owner Seth Hurwitz said in a statement.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through Ticketfly and cost $100-$175. The Anthem holds 2,500 to 6,000 people. More concerts will be announced later this month. Foo Fighters recently released a new single, “Run.”

Superior to NYC in literally every way. except the company it keeps (or doesn't depending on the weather in Florida)

That seems very un-Foo Fighters to charge that much for a small show.

Unfortunately, a big ol' nothingburger. Let's just say: it almost happened. (a new venue soft-opened last night, free show with no bands announced; members of fugazi performed but fugazi itself did not)
