No regrets about attending this festival was a good time. Best set honestly was Limp Bizkit at metro but Tyler wasn't far off.

Highlights for me were Jimmy Eat World aftershow JEW Lolla set Orville Kaytranada Angels & Airwaves
Others I enjoyed/new acts I liked Mothica Dobroski Machine Gun Kelly (the few songs I caught) Band of Horses, but like I said, probably the same set I saw them do last time
Didn't get to try any new foods this time around, just went with the old standbys.
Really glad I got to see everyone during Orville's set, it's been far too long.

Also, when I got to the festival yesterday, I saw that they had a table before the check for vaccine or negative test gate that was full of masks that people could take and wear inside the festival, and i saw maybe 3 people take one? Maybe 10% of the people in the festival were wearing mask? possibly less? I also noticed that they were congratulating themselves for having 90% vaccinated attendees on Thursday, but the tweet for Friday didn't have the numbers I know I'm late to the discussion because I haven't had time to check on the board while working this weekend, but I just wanted to drop a couple of things here. 1) On Thursday, the greeter volunteers were given boxes of masks and asked to hand them to guests if asked. Most greeters stood near/under lollipop signs that said "Need a mask, ask me." On Friday, the tables went up and the masks were placed on tables for guests to take for themselves (instead of the less sanitary handing them over). This went pretty smoothly, but regarding the usage I can tell you that Lolla bought over 500,000 masks and by Sunday, we were running low but never ran out. If I had to guess, I'd say 375,000-400,000 or so were distributed. 2) On Saturday, with the city mandate changing, the mask distribution shifted. Volunteers were asked to "insist" that people entering closed spaces (mainly box office and merch tent) take a mask to comply with the city. Evidence from those volunteers suggests that most people complied (meaning the TOOK a mask, not necessarily that they used it). I was told of only one armed gentleman who insisted he was vaccinated who refused the volunteer's request...but he was apparently shamed into taking one by those around him in the queue. 3) Those percentages that the city distributed. I can tell you, for real, that I was one of two people who actually stood at the covid check area and counted heads for 30 minutes (twice) on Thursday. One other guy did the same at a different entry. Those counts contributed to (or...constituted?) the city's reporting. And standing there for 30 minutes or so, I would say that security did a reasonably OK job. Would I have liked to see it be a more critical inspection of vaccination cards....absolutely. They were spending more time making sure that tested people had legit documents, most of the vaxxed folks were only given a cursory look. They were checking to see if there were two jabs, or if there was only one jab that it was J&J. Date checking was sporadic and cross referencing to a picture ID was pretty much non-existent although I'd say about 50% of people HAD an ID in their hand along with the vax card. So, while I agree with Arwaddy's assessment that there will likely be some transmission, I think, overall, that Lolla did a reasonably good job limiting the risk for vaccinated folks. Personally, I was comfortable outdoors when I could keep a reasonable distance. The 2-3 times I went into the pit (Limp Bizkit being one), I was absolutely in an N95 the whole time. I may eventually regret my choices for the weekend, but I think that if virus transmission bothered one, and they were vaccinated, there was an honest ability to enjoy the weekend while also keeping one's-self safe.

Oh...and the self-service, automated water distribution... Yeah, those are designed to start filling based on sensor activation (either a hand wave thingy or pressure from the bottle). There will be volunteers on hand "monitoring" but, I don't know how they're going to stop at least one kid from sucking directly from the tap. Definitely saw this. his mouth wasn't straight on the tap thankfully but the large gap between the tap and the table made this pretty easy. Also of note is that the hydration station on the south field was completely unmanned for the last 3-4 hours of the night last night. I watched a guy looking real sketchy scoping it out but it turned out he was looking for an outlet and unplugged the lights on the station to plug his phone in. Certainly not ideal. I'm was also surprised at two things: the number of people that even by Sunday night couldn't figure out how the sensor worked, and the number of people using water cans or beer cans as their vessel for refilling.

I was not there when it happened, so this is second-hand. There were several law enforcement "type" individuals on-site all weekend. Some (like CPD) were in clear and obvious uniforms. Others were in what almost would pass for civilian clothes. It was clear they were part of some force, but there were no badges, no insignia, nothing to identify what their role might be. That's what happened here...someone in olive greed head to toe, but no labels to say what "force" they were representing, so I don't know how to describe them other that to say "armed."

Both of these things are disappointing, but not surprising. The normal crew of workers/volunteers had this job removed from their management. It was given to another non-profit/charity, and several of the people involved in the past moved over to manage that team, but the number of volunteers under their control was a fraction of what it had been in the past. An unmanned station is the fault of the lead, as is a patron trying to drink from the tap. I can't explain it, but it's probably just laziness.

In all, at least 385,000 people attended, though official attendance is still being calculated, a police official said at a Monday morning news conference. There were 19 people arrested, seven people cited and at least 102 people taken to hospitals from the festival.
