So yeah, incredible stuff. And the OP is stunning.

I'm rewatching Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu S1 before jumping into S2 (second half of the story, basically) and wow, this is truly one of the best series of the decade. Damn. I'm finally getting into S2 and yeah, this series is outstanding.
I just finished a series and saw that Shouwa... was on my list. I didn't know anything about it beforehand, it just looked interesting. You have me intrigued, so I'm bumping it up to the front of the line.

Ohhh, I hope you enjoy. It's really a standout. What've you been watching?

I just got done watching Ceres Celestial Legend, and the wife and I have been blasting through Attack on Titan (she loves the crap out of that show).
Lately, I've really enjoyed Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon, and The Perfect Insider.
I used to watch a lot back in the day (Perfect Blue, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Ranma 1/2, etc.), and ramped it back up again through Crunchy Roll.

Huh, Ceres Celestial Legend is one I've never heard of actually. Any good?
Have seen the rest, although not the second season of Attack on Titan yet. It's a fine show for what it is but the gap between seasons has made it really hard for me to be interested. I'll get to it eventually. Madoka Magica is stellar, DanMachi has its moments and is a bit above the standard for its genre, and Perfect Insider is a fun mystery that got pretty overlooked. Overall that's a pretty diverse selection of shows and SGRS will definitely be something different.

Ceres is an older show...it aired around 2000. It was decent and held my interest, but wasn't great.
I think Titan S2 is pretty much on par with the first season. It's got a bit of a different feel, though. I watched S1 a while back and held off on S2 because of that long gap. My wife was curious about the show, so I played ep1 for her a few weeks ago and now we only have a few episodes left.
And yes, I thought Madoka was A++

Current anime season that's ending was the weakest in a long time imo. Mongogatari was good but was basically a one day release. Ballroom did a shit job adapting the manga and left out decent explanation scenes for fanservice.

That’s the general sentiment I’ve heard about both the season and those two series though I haven’t seen anything yet. However, also heard raving over Made in the Abyss and New Game S2, both of which I’m super excited to get to.

Has anyone made the joke "Vampire Weekend Hunter D" about Ezra Koenig's anime series? I hope not because I would like to be Internet famous.

Hey I was expecting a 2/10 and it was maybe a 5-6, so good job? The editing and pacing is atrocious, but that's problem #1 with every Japanese anime adaptation; again, they try to abbreviate about an arc-and-a-half worth of material to two hours. The cast does a great job though - everyone besides Mado looks and sounds solid. As far as fanservice goes you could do a lot worse.

Honest truth is that I haven't seen/read Tokyo Ghoul before so I wouldn't go see it anyway. Glad to hear it wasn't the worst though.

I've only read the manga. It's not essential but for a shonen series it does enough to stand out.

anime - I finished both seasons Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu. Great stuff. It definitely had me hooked. Sukeroku was an excellent character.

Nobuhiro Watsuki, the creator of Rurouni Kenshin, was arrested for possession of child pornography.... So apparently even the Japanese culture I consume is made by degenerates.
