I’m an old dad paying for my AC in the suburbs, trying to be slightly environmental. 76 usually.

72 during the day, down to 69 or 70 around dinner time.

We do not have AC. Grew up with my mom and dad dueling over the AC, though. My mom preferred 68, my dad 72-74.

When I had AC 72 was the number.
It was hard to not vote for 69 tho

This also reminds me that my old roommate would constantly run the AC to like, 68 or some shit, when our apartment due to a variety of factors could never get down below like 70. Drove me nuts and undoubtably cost me some dollars

If I set it much lower, the AC would never shut off. We do have fans running all the time, but it ends up using less electric than the AC

I felt bad checking the 74+ box since we almost never have it higher than that, but it's currently set at 74.

we're lucky to get a nice cross breeze, so AC generally doesn't go on unless it's really hot outside. in the old place, i often kept it at 72-73. i have yet to figure out what a good temperature for it will be in the new place.

Between 68 and 70, usually 68 at night if we can. We keep it cold in the winter too though

I just keep my thermo at 70 all year long, its just on auto (unless I turn it off/when the windows are open).

way too many people listing 68. psycho.
i am at 74+. i set it cooler in my last apartment that had high ceilings but my apartment now is just normal. definitely not trying to get an insane electric bill and plenty comfortable at 76.

The main living room is fine in the mid 70s, but I absolutely hate being hot when I'm trying to sleep upstairs. I even bought a linen blanket

I grew up in TX and AZ. My dad always kept it 68, which actually forced me outside during the day. Woke up almost every night cold af.
Since I've been here, I've had horrible AC up until a couple months ago. I'm very accustomed to 76-78 in the summer. It's not great, but I like it more than 68. I can just lay on my bed naked if it's especially humid (like right now uggggghhhh).
*I'm not naked or in bed right now, but it's 73 in my house and I still feel sticky from when I went out two hours ago.

I just moved into a place with central air after not having AC for like 15 years so this is a useful thread.
We've settled on 74 for now.

i was up in my attic a few weeks ago and for some reason felt a cold breeze coming from around the supply plenum which shoots the air to all the vents in the house.
one of the sides of the box was completely unattached so it was shooting cold air (and hot air in the winter probably) into the attic, so that was neat. got some aluminum foil tape and re-attached it and all's good, but no telling how long it'd been like that and wasted air / money!
oh, and 74 during the day, 71 at night.

I love living in Brooklyn but I *really* miss central air. Our largest window unit in the living room seems to do the trick when set at 76°.

What temp do you guys turn it on? Like if it's in the 70s do you leave it off? We have two dogs so if they're hot and their fans we bought them aren't cutting it we'll turn it on whenever, otherwise we don't turn it on until like the 80s

I will say we sleep with a fan on us, and my girlfriend gifted me one of these after I kept scooting on her side of the bed to use hers. You can set the temperature from 55-100(?) so it's clutch in the winter and summer so we don't have to use the AC or heat too much

Depends on the humidity honestly. And when it's on it's at 68
