LOVED seeing Medvedev finally get his first Slam. I respect and am awed by Djoker's game, but I think men's tennis is waaay more fun when there's more viable challengers.
Also - how wild was the women's tournament!? My posting fell off here during week 2, but those matches were insane. Really excited to see where Fernandez and Raducanu go from here.

Really happy for Medvedev, because he's such an exciting player and personality. Great for the game. But I did find it bittersweet. Medvedev will probably win more Slams, but who knows the next time we'll get another chance to see a calendar slam (in non-wheelchair tennis).
Also, a Frank Ocean sighting in the crowd!

Parlaying Matteo and Medvedev. Probably will lose this one but I can't bet against my guy Matteo.
Can't believe this thread stayed completely dormant during the Djokovic debacle. Cool guy.

Absolutely thrilled to see Tiafoe move into the semis! I really wanted to make it Flushing this year, but it just didn't mesh with my work schedules. Can't wait for Alcaraz/Sinner tonight - I'm a huge huge fan of all tournaments where the Big 3 are out.

Alcaraz is just wildly good. just when it looks like when he gets broken and figured out, he just counters right back

Alcaraz is just wildly good. just when it looks like when he gets broken and figured out, he just counters right back Yea a couple moments during 2nd set I thought he was finally losing speed and showing the fatigue of so many marathon matches. Then he’d just rip another crazy baseline winner or chase down a dropshot as strong as ever. Dude is a force and I’m loving seeing him emerge. And huge s/o to Ruud too - he’s not as exciting or headlinery but he had a hell of a year and I hope he keeps getting back to these big stages.

The Tiafoe semi and the final were both a lot of fun. BIG FOOOOEEEEE Absolutely obsessed with the shirt one of his family members had on in his booth. Might see if I can find that online.

This is fun. Feel like Shelton can’t sustain this very long, but he really takes advantage of opponents’ mistakes.

Pretty excited for the Women's Final, though I'm still bummed for Maddie dropping her semi in 3 sets after winning 6-0 in the first.
The men's semis on the other hand, suck ass. I wish there was a way for all 4 of those jabronis to lose.

Absolutely fucking psyched for Fritz/Tiafoe! Big Foe is my favorite player of the last few years and Fritz has been playing a lights-out tournament so far. The atmosphere in Ashe is going to be electric. Plus! My mom and I will be there! She'd planned a trip out to the men's semis back in June and flies in later today. So freakin' excited!

I’ll be in NYC on Friday with a free night and was looking into going to that match but whew, didn't realize it’s $300+ to get in the door. I guess it makes sense being the semis of the US Open and all but I’m not a huge tennis fan so I guess I’ll go see Peter Hook instead.

I guess it makes sense being the semis of the US Open and all but I’m not a huge tennis fan so I guess I’ll go see Peter Hook instead. Yeah secondary market prices really skyrocketed in the last 2-3 years for the USO. I used to go for a day during week 1 and it would be like $60-80 on Stubhub for a seat in Ashe. Late round matches would always get crazy if the matchup was good, but this year even the early rounds had scalpers asking $200+ minimum every day. Even grounds passes were like $160 at the cheapest. I blame the tournament becoming sort of a trendy thing to do / post about on IG, but it is what it is. We got these tickets on release day, and going forward that seems to be the only way to guarantee not insane prices for any day. Which sucks b/c the Open used to be secretly affordable if you snuck your own food in and what not. Scalpers suck.

really glad Pegula got the upset over Iga to make her first semis. Sounds like she's the better bet of the two american women left to make it to the finals
