Did you actually see Survive? I personally heard nothing but good things about their set, and I was frustrated how directly they conflicted with PJ.

It was really boring and the crowd was very light.

he wasn't paying attention that his low battery warning came up on his laptop and on the screen, and no one could try to sneak up to plug it in until it was too late, so it shut down at 10:40, and he basically just ended his set at that point too. That is absolutely amazing

It's nice to see an EDM outfit actually perform live which for some reason is a lost art form these days. Also, synthwave isn't the easiest genre to mix, let alone mix live.

Best Early Act - Colin Stetson (new songs sounded great) Best Mid Tier Act - Pinegrove (HM: Mitski. These were my two most anticipated sets not named Tribe, and they both killed) Best Headliner - Solange Best Change To The Fest - 2nd entrance, wristbands inside the park Worst Change To The Fest - Deep Eddy instead of the craft cocktails Best Food/Drink Purchase - All the cider (HM: Goddess Tofu Wrap) Best Merch Purchase - N/A Worst Food/Drink Purchase - Vegan wingz cuz they didn't include celery and carrots this year. They still tasted good. Act Most Likely To Disappear - The Avalanches Act Most Likely To Blow Up - Pinegrove Most Disappointing Act - Dirty Projectors (I had high expectations and there were really only 3-4 songs that came off well) Best Party of the Weekend - LCD Best Time to give into your heatstroke - The Feelies. I laid down toward the end of their set and ended up sleeping through Angel Olsen Best Wake Up Call - Colin Stetson->Derrick Carter Best Surprise Find - Derrick Carter (HM: Jeff Rosenstock) Best College Déjà vu - ATCQ Best Crowd - Pinegrove (It sounded like it was bad toward the back, but where we are up front they were great) Worst Crowd - Solange Best Comeback - ATCQ (The sound was awful, but they definitely brought it. Other than 'Scenario', it was everything I was hoping for.) Best Cover - The little snippets that Jamila Woods does Best Looking/Best Dressed - PJ Harvey's whole crew (HM: Solange's ensemble) Underrated Act - Hamilton Liethauser Overrated Act - Cherry Glazerr Best Crowd Banter - Jeff Rosenstock Act Most Likely To Play Pitchfork 2018 - Amber Coffman Best Non-musical Activity - Belly pregame Thursday/Breakfast House brunch Saturday

pinegrove were good but i liked their primavera sets better. it's too bad they didn't have the girl from half waif with them, her harmonies are a p huge aspect of the live show imo.

I was really hoping she'd be there even though she's doing the Half-Waif thing.

I had to walk away from the set after "Old Friends" because the crowd was so awful. Everywhere I went people were having loud, ongoing conversations and no one was actually listening to the music.

Crowd near me at Pinegrove was awesome. Everyone was really into it. Was like 10 or so rows back on the left half of the stage.

Same, maybe a little closer.

I arrived just as the set was starting and kept moving up until I was a few rows in front of the sound booth. No matter where I went or how close I got people were talking all around me, definitely the worst crowd of the weekend that I experienced.

I'm glad I saw Ride instead, but I wish they would have played more old songs.

I'll say one of the best crowds of the weekend was for Colin Stetson. I didn't think people would be into just a dude with a sax, but everyone was very into it. Like teekoh said at the fest, it's really fun to watch the reactions of people who have never seen him before.

had a wonderful time thursday and saturday with y'all. not mad i only went to p4k one day this year, based on the issues i've heard about both friday and sunday. saturday wasnt logistically great either but as long as PJ and Tribe sounded good and were on time i didnt really care. luckily they were and it was amazing. glazerr and mitski were my other favorites that day. shoutout to that goose island beer garden with reserved tables. we wasted like 2 hours just getting hammered and talking about grunge and it was perf. legit dont think i'll go next year unless they get portishead or something but we'll see.

also charles bradley was great thursday and i apologize for telling everyone you'd be fine in to get in, when some of you ultimately didn't. shitty cause there was still plenty of space in there so idk why they were so hesitant about capacity. pat mahoney was fun too but lord i was too tired/drunk to stay through that whole thing.

There wasn't enough space, everyone was just outside. If everyone had come inside there would have been no space. I get why they cut it off.

logistically sunday at pitchfork was great, it was much more empty than the other days. saturday just was a bummer with all the blankets filling the entire back of the main field.

Sunday at P4k is the capacity they should be aiming for every day.

Had a great time on Friday - some really great music, but mostly hanging out with the board. Cool to meet lot and Genghis. It's been a couple years since I have been to p4k and all the things that I don't really like - tickets for alcohol, lines, lines, lines, stupid olds with chairs, loud talkers, etc are still there. Seems like they were very strict with start/end times - a couple of the acts mentioned it.
Enjoyed almost all of what I saw. Madame Gandhi did her thing - I liked it. Priests were fun, but they need to be in a club not a huge fest stage. Enjoyed Vince, partially because I was way in front. He looked sad/unenthused/pissed off though. Not the best performer. Was further back for Danny, and was sort of disappointed with the performance. It didn't seem to have the same energy as past performances, but maybe it is because I didn't push my way to the front. idk.
Dawn Richard was great. Thurston was not the snoozefest he was the last time at p4k. Enjoyed the heck out of what I saw of Arca. LCD was a lot of fun - so much dancing. Annoyed that they started 10 minutes early tho. Shout out to the dude in front of us who gave me a free beer (my second free beer from a rando that day). Too bad there were 2 or 3 board groups instead of one big one.
Went to Open Air on Saturday which was a ton of fun. Was wiped, so didn't make it on Sunday, which is just as well, as The Avalanches and Nico Jaar were the only 2 acts I was super excited to see, and, well....
Definitely lineup/schedule dependent next year.

Looking forward to collapsing on the couch later and filling out the superlatives thing, but I was overall extremely happy with how the fest went this year. Only saw one set that I would say was straight up bad, and had a lovely time with everyone from the board.
After meeting up with people for everything this weekend, it was a little weird hanging solo at the American Football show. I'm glad I went though, because it was a great show.

Kudos to Pitchfork for making adjustments after Friday with the lines to get into the fest. They still need to get rid of that dumb ticket system for booze though.

I didn't mention Dawn Richard in my list earlier, but I loved the hell out of that set. That was great.

Sunday evening I was able to grab enough tickets on the ground for two rounds of wine and a gizz beer -- made American Football -> Nico Jaar -> Solange the best stretch.
