We watched the first 15-20 minutes of Jaar and it was too slow. Not that American Football really moved or anything, but they sounded great when the bleed from Jaar wasn't drowning out everything.

Honestly nothing happened in those 15-20 minutes. I would have no problem watching him do that in a club or seated space, but for a festival that wasn't great.

well, yeah we were up front. about 10 minutes in lara turned to me and said "is this it?" hahahaha i couldn't blame her.
he got into more engaging music pretty much immediately after that, though.

man, that nicolas jaar set was great So good...and though it started slow, it was a banger after about 7 minutes...maybe it was slow for longer, but I was too into the build-up to notice how long it lasted.

So many people walked out of the beginning of that set with a nonplussed look on their face.

I enjoyed barely attending this fest. Probably would have made more of an effort if I wasn't going to FYF but as it was it was a nice preview. Lovely to see all of you as per usual.
1. ATCQ 2. Jamila Woods 3. Solange 4. Ride 5. American Football/Nicolas Jaar
What was served at the seated Goose place?

Wait - was there a camp this year? I spent about an hour wandering aimlessly while eating on Saturday and didn't even think to look in the old place.

Priests were fun, but they need to be in a club not a huge fest stage. only pofo related thing I did this weekend was make a decision on Saturday afternoon to buy a ticket off the schuba's website to see priests at schuba's Saturday night. priests were really cookin' at schuba's.

Also, and for a rare occasion I'm not going to be sarcastic:
It was super awesome seeing all of you, some for the first time (see: Genghis). Ya'll make going to these shindigs way more fun than it should. Hell, I wouldn't even go to fests if you weren't also attending.
Oh, hey there CM Punk.

I have also heard this rumor but no details.
Also I am not convinced that PJ Harvey and Nick Cave are not the same person these days.

Only made it Saturday but definitely a great time. Polly was magnificent, even if that wasn't the setlist I wanted. She can do no wrong.
Everything after PJ is a letdown but I was pleasantly surprised by Tribe. I had serious doubts about a Phife less Tribe, but they were super respectful on not doing his parts and Tip definitely was giving it his all. Saw the original Tribe and thought this was going to be a waste of my time but it was solid.
Nice catching up with Audiobully, Pale Hose and Wretched in the Goose Island tent. While I did enjoy the grunge dialogue the highlight for me was then pointing out a certain boarder not getting served due to intoxication.
Overall I'd rate my day as an 8.9

It's a bit delayed, but I just wanted to say how wonderful it was to see everyone this weekend. Being able to attend after writing the possibility off, and getting to see (and finally meet for some!) so many wonderful folks was, as it always is, an absolutely delight. Seeing shows in groups with all of you is such a different experience. My only regret is not being able to see Phish as well.

Couldn't leave work early on Friday so I missed most of that day. Sunday I showed up late because I didn't really care about anything until Ride (Stetson, but didn't need to see him then sit around for 4 hours). Overall, one of the weaker (maybe the weakest) years I've been.
Best Early Act - Jeff Rosenstock Best Mid Tier Act - PJ Harvey (idk if a Sub is mid tier though) Best Headliner - LCD Best Change To The Fest - Expanding blue room and opening the second entrance Worst Change To The Fest - They moved the location of the VIP bleachers on Green and Blue and now they block spaces you used to be able to watch from Best Food/Drink Purchase: Didn't but anything so free Wendy's salad Best Merch Purchase - American Football Tab book Worst Food/Drink Purchase - Those free Bai cans were gross Act Most Likely To Disappear - Madame Gandhi. Seems likely to be one of those acts you see on the old lineup poster a few years from now and it draws a complete blank. Act Most Likely To Blow Up - Mitski. She's already fairly large, but by next album I'd assume she can sell out Metro/Riv/Vic. That being said, the mix was terrible during her set and her guitar player is awful and needs to be fired. Most Disappointing Act - Dirty Projectors. The first half of that set was a mess. They didn't rehearse enough. Best Party of the Weekend - LCD Best Time to give into your heatstroke - Not sure what this means. Best set to sleep to? Feelies. Best Wake Up Call - Jeff Rosenstock Best Surprise Find - friends from high school in the LCD pit that I didn't know ere attending Best College Déjà vu - Danny Brown. Dude's set seemed dull and uninspired. He rapped less than he used to. Reminds me of his hype his 2014 set was an how much I blasted Old in college Best Crowd - Rosenstock/LCD. Good pits Worst Crowd - Ride. Sea of olds and grumpy middle aged fans trying to shove everyone to film the band. Best Comeback - Tribe Best Cover - only covers I heard were during Solange and both were dull Best Looking/Best Dressed - Dawn/Solange Underrated Act - Rosenstock Overrated Act - Ride, massive technical delays and a dull, uninspired set Best Crowd Banter - Rosenstock Act Most Likely To Play Pitchfork 2018 - Jay Som Best non-musical activity - Free food
