I'm actually surprised it didn't get a BNM, as P4K has been a huge supporter of Converge for a few releases in a row now. The really disheartening part of today's scores is that their review of Grandaddy's debut reissue is only an 8.1 when the original album received a 9.6.

i remembered them praising All We Love We Leave Behind 5 years ago as well but figured they might have abandoned the band at this point. glad to see that's not the case

Interesting that the box set gets an 8.2 when only two of the albums in it meet or exceed that score.

I think the box set score is for the quality of the packaging, materials included, etc. I know their review for the Philip Glass set that came out a while back was waaaay higher than they rated his operas and other odd projects.

i didnt even realize Tribulation's new one is out tomorrow but they got an 8.0 today but not BNM because shit is fucked.
if they end up playing this dumb fest i'll be so mildly annoyed by that crowd.
also bet they forget about Portal and Mammoth Grinder tomorrow.

They never give BNM to the metal albums they rate highly. It's very dumb.

Basically they don't care about guitar based music that much anymore. There's a few, but yeah they don't care for metal anymore. Stereogum did give Tribulation AOTW tho and Tom Breihan used to write for P4K.

About Four of them I think. Five if you want to count Prurient as metal (he isn’t, but I think he made their metal list that year)

Yeah, both of those Baroness and Deafheaven albums are better classified as hard rock. That is more than I thought, though.

they gave Master of Puppets a BNR in December. that was cool because it let me know that the box set exists and I got to listen to a full Aragon show from 1986

The one time I could have seen them I drank at the Gman with Rango instead until Skeletonwitch came on after them. Heard they were bad.

Heard they were bad. i think that's the one where i gave gignac my ticket. i'd suspect that abbath and high on fire fans wouldn't be as into it and were just shitting on it because. but who knows. their psycho set 2 years was phenomenal tho.

Interesting that the box set gets an 8.2 when only two of the albums in it meet or exceed that score. Probably because buying 18 Weird Al albums is way more embarrassing than buying one box set.
