i enjoyed this read but i would have really enjoyed if they got more comments from some of these bands. but also i get it and also the fact that they didnt want to be interviewed over it is interesting in and of itself

I've been thinking for awhile that they did it this way. I suppose it makes sense, somewhat, but it still seems stupid to have someone else deem the quality of the work. This was a new writer, so I'm kind of surprised that they gave such a high profile review to her. But it continues in the vein that I think Schrieber makes all of the final decisions on everything - high scores, album list, song list, etc. This one is super baffling though. Even if you don't like Dirty Computer, it's getting unanimous praise from all major outlets and is currently the highest scoring album on Metacritic. It's from a pansexual black woman, it's anti-Trump, it's poppy, and has one of the best singles of the year on it. Maybe it's Conde Nast. Then again, maybe this is all on purpose just to get us all talking about it. Who knows. Honestly, maybe they wanted to look like they weren't inflating it based on that. Yeah, they approached DAMN the same way.

brent dicrescenzo's reviews were good His reviews make the human part of me weep dude come on A twisted barbed wire sign spans the entrance to the Ben Elektra Kibbutz in Metulla, Israel. It reads: "And Justice for All." There, in the country's northernmost town, pinched by Lebanon, and set in a valley as arid and colorless as an Anton Corbijn photo, my brothers and I assembled compact discs for Elektra Records, far from the reach of cable modems and CDRWs.
After long days of picking rare bloodberries from barbed bushes for the screened St. Anger covers, which Lars assured us during his weekly motivational videos would only drive hard copy sales, I stripped my soiled black overalls, checked the bunks for banana spiders and sand ants, and settled in to read a tattered copy of Karl "Geezer" Marx and Frederick "Freddi" Engels' Metal Manifesto. Few historians care to document the period in the early 1850s when the pair, influenced by the heart-wrenching blue-collar poems of Bob Seger, abandoned the Bund der Gerechten, shaved their beards, applied eye-silver and rouge, and produced a series of simpler, populist manifestos.
Often, I found myself reading the first line by Zippolight, unable to proceed further, lulling myself to sleep with its mantra:
"A spectre is haunting Metal - the spectre of Metallica."

That Janelle album was worse than her last two, the Beyoncé style video was a blatant copy of Beyoncé, Django Jane sounds like a social justice warrior rapping her tumblr posts, album just isn’t that amazing imo. Score on it was fine and I’m glad it didn’t get BNM.

love how he covered his ass at the end with listing the very 2018 hip guests appearing on the album saying "hopefully" the rest of the album will be good, so they can still trash dave and later praise the contributions of everyone else.

I don't like the new single but it is funny they get on his name-dropping and then end the review by name-dropping.

i feel like every p4k review i've read this year has just pushed them further into a horrifying mesh of reddit-style edgelord opinions and obsessively burning their idols to appeal to a wider base.
it's pretty hilarious.

Yeah I do typically enjoy Jenn Pellys reviews. This is one of her best.

It's appropriately scored under Bloom and Teen Dream. And I'm inclined to agree that it's better than Depression Cherry.

7.0 based on what they've given other albums - are they going to say this is better than Humbug?

Agree to disagree I suppose
I tried listening to Four Out of Five again after seeing the P4k article, and then also watched them playing it on Fallon. Still just don't get it at all, it could almost be satirical if not for how seriously full of himself Alex Turner is now.

Humbug and Nightmare are garbage. Select tracks are good but large portions are just forgettable

Turner doesn’t name songs after himself and refer to himself as a third person figure.
