Dang an 8.1. That means this album is better than Pure Comedy, MASSeduction, AND Sleep Well Beast? Shit I better go give it another try now.

Do people still truly take P4 as the arbiter of good taste though? (Did they ever?) They admitted the ratings aren't even decided by the reviewer - it's just all clickbait.
8.1 reasons why this is the most shocking Arctic Monkeys album yet! You WON'T believe #7!!

That Arctic Monkeys album is straight up elevator music and you can't convince me otherwise.

I basically give zero fucks about Pitchfork reviews. This AM record is great tho.

Hopefully they'll revisit Boarding House Reach in 10 years and give it a 9.5.

Honestly I'm surprised how consistently well they've reviewed them over the years.

Massseduction and Pure Comedy the artists had taken their schtick so far that they’d essentially become parodies of their previous albums.
Arctic Monkeys genuinely changed their sound here and made something completely unexpected.

Coming after the last couple albums of completely neutered black keys cosplay its so goofy to hear people think this is ingenuine or whatever.

Yesterday I came around on thinking the new AM album isn't bad.
But it's definitely not that good and that 8.1 further solidifies Pitchfork as a publication that doesn't matter.

They've definitely lost their arbiter status but I don't think giving Arctic Monkeys a positive review is some kind of desperate attention-grab.

P4K scores trend higher now because there is no longer a cohesive editorial mission statement. They run more like a millenial rolling stone so these are less likely to be tranched and more likely to trend in the 7s (also brings down the high scores too since theres gonna be less fantatical devotion). The idea that somehow they are rounding their scores up because the arctic monkeys album getting an 8.1 vs a 7.5 would make a significant difference in their ad revenue is insane. People made the same argument for why Janelle Monae got a 7.5 vs a 8.5 which is even more insane.

Just so you all know Rolling Stone gave it a 2/5, all hail RS' return to relevancy. How brave and irreverent of them.

glad to see they still give The Body some love (tho not enough imo)
but the write-up is a very good and succinct summation of why you guys might like this one more than the Full of Hell or Thou collab albums.

Courtney Barnett will get a 9.1 since the festival has only sold a hundred tickets so far.

I dig the new Courtney Barnett, but they've only reviewed one of the singles, and no BNTs. Could be way off, but they haven't been giving this release much attention. She's no Arctic Monkey.

I was kinda surprised actually by the BNM/score. They'd given "Mr. Tillman" an unfavorable review stating that the persona was getting tired. 8.5 seems accurate though, below Honeybear.

i've been avoiding getting burned out on it until the real version dropped but i have enjoyed it more and more with every listen. it's still in 4th place in his discography for me but that could very well change as i start to binge on it over the summer.
there's definitely 2 or 3 songs on it that i feel i already have memorized after only a few spins which is a good sign for how easily the album sticks with you.

8.2 for Ye. They'll put him right on the edge of BNM, but won't give it to him.
