Dang, I wanted to see them at Big Ears but they conflicted with someone else (I forget who). I think it was Patti Smith / AnCo and then Kim Gordon, but my memory's kinda fuzzy b/c I skipped them too

I know that some people consider anselmo kind of a schmuck, but I am not necessarily strongly opposed to anselmo and rex sort of reviving the band with new folks replacing the bros. would they play the forge? concord? reggies?

The name recognition alone will get them bigger venues, at least initially. Maybe even the Aragon. I won't be there.

I like how their wikipedia page currently has Phil and Rex both as current and former members of the band.
I don't know if I've ever listened to Pantera but heyPower Metal came out in '88 so I'll give it a shot this summer

I don't know if I've ever listened to Pantera but hey Power Metal came out in '88 so I'll give it a shot this summer I saw about the first half of their (what seemed to me to be lukewarm) set at the main stage at ozzfest 97 at tinley, but made the bad decision to leave and check out whichever band (downset? vision of disorder?) was playing the second stage at the same time, not knowing that there'd never be a better time to see Pantera at their prime. downset and vision of disorder were both excellent that day, however.

If you're listening to Pantera for the first time I'd start with Cowboys From Hell and go chronologically from there.

This was the only time I saw them play outdoors and it was admittedly a little weird with the sun still being high in the sky. I tried to see at least a little of every act that day, so there was a lot of time spent at the second stage. I assuming you stuck mainly with the main stage?
