Damn. I was kinda hoping they'd close out in NYC but they did say that Pano was their last show. I feel like they maybe should have done venue tours instead of fest shows.
Sad to see 'em go but understandable.

Yeah with how sudden the "last shows" thing is I feel like this run wasn't originally intended to be their last shows until they started performing and Q realized he couldn't go on

The band just tweeted that it was a "misunderstanding" and they will clarify

I'm not terribly surprised, but I'm so sad. They've been one of my favorite bands over the last 10 years and one of the best live acts going. The note is sweet, but waaaaaaaaaah.

does it count as a reunion, if you've never heard of the dudes before they decided to reunite?

I'd heard of Drive Like Jehu before they broke up, even tho I've never seen them in concert. Have seen almost all of the rest of John Reis' bands.

I'm surprised you don't know who Birdman is.

I'm surprised you don't know who Birdman is. I don't know shit about 1990s hip hop. 80s, yes. 2000s and 2010s, yes. 90s, no.

the 90s is an interesting decade to skip for hip hop, but their hits are from the 2000s anyway.

This screams Pitchfork headliner, to me.

I think mookie and I are the only MPPA fans here, but I'll post it anyway.
While I write these words, my mind skates along the melody and lyrics of the Frank Sinatra/Sid Vicious song, My Way.
It is time to say goodbye to the oddly named Matt Pond PA. We’ll soon release a reprising holiday EP. And these shows in December will be the last we play under that honorific. (Or at least for a long, long, long, long, long, long time.)
Whatever happens next, I will continue to make music. We’re focusing the crux of our upcoming efforts here. Just without my name on all the baloney. It’s time for for a different brand of baloney.
Though I’m no smooth crooner nor Sex Pistol, I believe I gave it a good shot. I was lucky enough to record and perform with countless amazing musicians. And for some of the best fans/friends that any human being has ever been able to engage and encounter.
Honestly — I would not have been able to do any of this without the attention of the truest listeners in the universe.
Oh sure, I’m awkward and strange and broken in a few infinite ways. Yet despite the sporadic spirals, I’m still here and truly believe that music saved my life.
The only way to make anything that matters in this world is to do it together. Therefore, I want to collaborate in this lifetime, with other musicians, with other thoughts. And with you.
Yes, it was our way! m.

Crap... I really hope he moves forward with the band he was just touring with, they were really good and played his songs well. Should be interesting to see what happens anyways.

I think mookie and I are the only MPPA fans here, but I'll post it anyway. I am not a big fan of MPPA, but I was at the schuba's show a couple of weeks ago via a free ticket from the lh/schuba's facebook page, and mookie and his concert buddy had won tix via twitter, I think.

I figured that there was too much going on between Liz and Robin that I wasn't even hoping for it to happen.

Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this, but surprised all of the recent allegations against Jesse Lacey (Brand New) haven't been discussed on here yet. He finally released a pretty shitty statement on the matter on facebook today:
