IDK I kind of get a sick fascination and enjoyment out of people thinking Frank Ocean will ever perform again. I love going through this song and dance every year.

Coachella is clearly the best festival in America, run by the people who started it. You can tell it's still a mom and pop operation in many respects.

Even if they did have a big high profile last minute drop out, it's really dumb to me that they get to have a stranglehold on the announcement of tours and every other fest but keep not announcing on time. Just announce it with a "TBA" in that spot, honestly that'll probably create even more buzz and news articles around this fest anyway and they'd have another wave of it when they make the announcement

Do they really have a hold on anyone though? Seems like other fests are moving forward next week. It might be with the assumption that Coachella announces, but I feel like it is misconceived that they tie up the whole system.

I'm sure there has to be some sort of date where it lapses (I'd assume this next Monday) but I'm like 80% sure they have some sort of they get first announcement clause for most of the big acts |

Wouldn't artists that are reuniting or it is big news they will be on tour benefit from being shown on Coachella's lineup first to get the shock factor. Then announce their tour separately and generate more buzz in individual markets. The opposite scenario is they announce a tour with gaps that make it obvious they will be at Coachella. Then there is no second wave of publicity.

They have a lineup embargo up to a certain date which my guess is Monday which is why fests are announcing on Tuesday. As far acts holding their dates back I'm not sure about that since I often remember back in the day artists releasing their tour dates a few days before the lineup being released with a gap for Coachella. |
