Here it is, in all of it's glory, the 2017 Board Dot's list of the best albums of 2017. There might be some surprises in there. There might not be. Every list that had at least 20 albums was counted (which was 29 total lists I think). The no. 1 album received 50 points, no. 2 received 49 points, and so on. I'm including the top 100 albums, b/c everything else would just be too damn tedious, and no one before me ever did so why should I start now, right? So in normal format, here's the bottom half without any kooky descriptions.
100. Zeal and Ardor - Devil Is Fine (82) 99. yaeji - EP/EP2 (84) 98. White Reaper - The World's Best American Band (85) 97. Charli XCX – Pop 2 (86) 97. Full of Hell - Trumpeting Ecstasy (86) 95. "Fun" "Facts" about Your Top Albums
- Kendrick Lamar has tied Kanye for the most appearances in the top 10, with 3. - The most albums that were listed as no. 1 were Big Thief's "Capacity" and King Krule's "The Ooz," each with 3. Neither cracked the top 10. - Former AOTY winners Father John Misty (2015, and 2012 depending on which list you accept) and Run the Jewels (2014), didn't crack the top 20, and is each artists lowest ranking release on our lists. - (Just gonna leave this here) There are three artists currently being accused of sexual assault and/or violence towards women on our list. - The highest scoring album that appeared on the fewest lists was Mount Eerie's "A Crow Looked at Me" on only 7 lists. - Biggest drop between releases was the Japandroids, who were no. 4 on our 2012 list. - Tyler, The Creator hasn't appeared on our list since 2011, despite releasing albums in 2013 and 2015. - Both of Cut Copy's previous albums cracked the top 10. This year, they only appeared on two lists and accumulated only 59 points. - Priests' "Nothing Feels Natural" is the highest ranking debut album. - 37 of the top 50 albums are rock related. - Sleep Well Beast has the 2nd smallest AOTY point total, above only M83's "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" from 2011.
Enjoy! The songs list is forthcoming, and it's really bad. Not bad like crappy songs (that too) but there's very little overlap between lists. This one was clear by like the 7th list or so.

Thanks Timbo!
Second year in a row where I am.absolutely floored by what our number one is. In my opinion both times it has been previously amazing bands who have begun to dip their toes into mediocrity but the board loves them so much it doesn't matter.

This is pretty visibly better than all of the other lists I’ve seen this year, and it’s cool because I was 1/29th of it. Thanks for putting all this together and including so many fun facts!

foo fighters not in the top 50 this board has come so far (kind of).
it should have been obvious to anyone skimming the list that the national would be #1. wouldn't be a aoty reveal without a big time fuckin neader post.

tima, given your stat about the national having the 2nd smallest aoty total, are the old board rankings saved on the board somewhere? Or would you want to insert them into the first post as a spoiler for reference?
also, presumably a large reason for it having a low vote total would be less people participating, yes?
terrible that hurry up i'm dreaming was a board aoty.
