I wouldn't use the lounge and already have PreCheck (wonder if they'd cover renewal?) so that's a wash, but could probably make the other stuff work. They would cover the renewal, or you could upgrade to Global Entry (which is also covered).

Unless gas counts as a travel expense, I might not spend $300/year. Really? You wouldn't spend $300 combined in hotels, AirBnB, airfare, trains, Ubers/Lyfts, public transit or rental cars? Really. We flew to Vegas in April and it was the first flight I had taken in 4 years. We only did that cuz my aunt and uncle let us use their timeshare as a xmas present, so no hotel cost. Probably spent $50 in cabs that weekend? We walked everywhere else. The other vacation we took we drove to Michigan to visit friends. Stayed in a cheap Air BnB in Grand Rapids and at a hotel the friends worked at for like $100. And this was the first year we'd taken a vacation in 3 years. I would certainly like to take more leisure vacations, but we spend most of our vacation time visiting family here in the burbs or in Iowa. If my monthly CTA pass counts, then that would certainly make up for it. I can't imagine it does, though.

If it's coming out of your paycheck pre-tax through work, then no. Edit: However, in light of everything else you said, I don't think either of the Sapphire cards would be a good fit for you. Maybe one of the Freedoms though?

Thanks! I'll have to look into it. We might start travelling a little bit more next year (maybe Psycho and Disney) and it would be nice to get something back.
My CTA thing does come out of my check at the moment, so that's a bummer.

I applied for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card this weekend. Hopefully I have it by the time I travel to Chicago next month.

They're really fast.
For anyone else wanting to get it and in a rush, go into the bank. They immediately approve you right then and there.

I think if it was any less than 30 days before my trip I would have probably just gone to the bank.
I'm pretty excited to use the AA Lounge at DIA again.

You can't just use any airport lounge, only the ones under the Priority Pass system. The only thing it gets you at DEN is a credit at that restaurant that has the smoking lounge attached to it.

Yeah the lounges included in Priority Pass are all in the international terminals of the US airports.
Also, you have to enroll in Priority Pass through the Ultimate Rewards website once you get approved for the card, so don't forget to do that!

I got the Chase Sapphire Reserved card in like late December/early Jan.
Was approved right away and they basically overnighted the card. Been racking up major points ever since.

Priority Pass benefit at DIA is actually not a bad deal - $28 credit towards food and drink. But yeah, clearly didn't actually look at the lounges that were included.
That's going to be more of a benefit when I go start traveling internationally again.

Someone let me know which credit card has access to all the lounges and lots of cashback for everything and low/no annual fee.
I know if I start researching this I'll go down the rabbit hole and start making spreadsheets and shit. I do not have time for such nonsense.

Chase Sapphire Reserve if you count the $300 annual travel credit towards the $450 annual fee

Congrats Wretcht! That's big!
One of my cards randomly hiked up my APR like 4 percentage points. I don't carry a balance and my credit score's never been higher so idgi. When I called them about it they said it was to keep up with the market but none of my other cards are jacking up their rates?

4 percentage points is insane. I know some of them will go up when the federal rate goes up, but nothing that drastic.

I even asked to speak with a manager and they couldn't explain it either.

I was transferring some points from my Sapphire Reserve card to Southwest just now and noticed that I got 10x points for a couple of Lyfts I took on Sunday (rather than the normal 3x points for travel). This was weird so I did some googling and found out that Lyft partnered with Chase as of this past weekend to give cardholders a shit ton of benefits. Benefits are increased across the board of their line of cards but some get more than others. If you have a Reserve card, most notably you should sign up for the free year of Lyft Pink (15% off all rides, normally costs twenty bucks a month).

I'm not seeing any indication that signing up via Sapphire is an auto-renew thing either.

I'm not seeing any indication that signing up via Sapphire is an auto-renew thing either. It specifically says on that page that it will NOT auto-renew/enroll after the trial.
