i got an email about a similar chase deal with doordash and a free year subscription of some kind. haven't looked into it yet but seemed cool. Just got this email last night - $60 statement credit for any Doordash orders this year and next. I'll be ordering myself some free dinner tonight. You also get a free year of free delivery with whatever their premium service is. I haven't looked in to that yet. The thing we all danced around with this: they're upping the Reserve fee to $550 a year as of April 1. Luckily I just got hit with my renewal this week, but if you renew any time after April it's gonna be $550. These new perks definitely make it worth it for me for another year after this one, but if I paid $550 this year it would give me pause when next year came up.

Looking into this Chase Sapphire Reserve and excuse the dumb question but when it says dining does that like refer to anytime I go to a restaurant?

Yeah I think there's separate benefits for other cards but Sapphire Reserve gets the statement credit.

ok cool i've been approved very excited to go into debt to get one flight for free. No hyperbole, I haven't paid for a flight in four years. You'll get a lot more than one flight.

Sapphire Reserve is honestly super worth it if you travel much at all. The $300 travel credit is super easy to hit and basically makes it like $150 a year (soon to be $250, but I think even that is worth it).

I think this story sums it up nicely. We have dropped all the apps and started ordering directly and picking up from the restaurants ourselves.

this one came to my mind too, as well as that grubub driver who recently hit and run a restaurant worker, and it turns out the driver had never even had a driver's license. besides all their shady business practices, seems like none of these companies bother to check the backgrounds of their employees. also been trying to avoid any ordering apps these days.

CSR peeps: I noticed they added a new benefit where you can redeem your points for statements credits worth 50% more than their cash value in certain categories, specifically restaurants and grocery stores. So if you spend $100 at the store, you can request a $150 credit for that purchase on your statement. I'm guessing this is in response to basically all travel being shut down, and people not being able to redeem their points for the usual 50% premium on flights/hotels. This new benefit is good through the end of September.
Also they're doing 5x points at grocery stores through the end of the month.

Is there anyone offering a major travel points bonus right now? I’d like to start earning some travel credit because I anticipate doing quite a bit of that next year. I have good credit and I just hit 5 years on my oldest age of account so I’ve got a decent history built up

I believe CSR is offering 60k points, which are worth a 50% premium when used for travel, when you open a new card and hit their minimum spending threshold (4k in 3 months last I checked).

I just got a Sapphire offer for Spotify Premium. Looks like if you're not a member you can get six months free and then 5% off the next six months (a whopping amount I know). If you're already a member you can just get the 5% off for six months. Obviously a better deal for new members but figured I'd throw it out there cause music.

Alright I nerd out about Chase points a lot so I was bummed when I saw next quarter's Freedom categories are Walmart and PayPal cause that's pretty limiting. I did some poking around today though and it turns out PayPal just launched this thing called PayPal Key where it generates a Mastercard card number that can be tied to any form of payment in your PayPal account. So you can use it on any site where you would enter a credit card number, not just sites that take PayPal. Obviously wouldn't work in person but this pretty much guarantees I'll hit the max point bonus next quarter and I would recommend others check it out if you care.

it seems the sapphire cards got a big downgrade when freedom unlimited moved to 3% on dining/pharmacies. i'll probably still keep mine because it allows transfers. but they've got to do something with sapphire benefits for existing customers who're doubling up with freedom cards, right?

Have you been redeeming your points for 1.5x value on your grocery/restaurant purchases? That has been a huge value add for us during the pandemic since we have no plans to step foot on a plane anytime soon. They're discontinuing this benefit at the end of the month however, I'm planning on cashing in all of my points and I'll reevaluate if the card is still worth it for us next year before the renewal fee hits. I would be surprised if they don't announce some other perk or benefit not centered around travel though.

Good news for Sapphire card holders:
Starting November 1, 2020, the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Sapphire Reserve cards will earn the same bonus at grocery stores that they offer for travel purchases. This means that you’ll earn 2x points at grocery stores with your Sapphire Preferred and 3x points with your Sapphire Reserve. (Normally, you earn 1 point for each $1 spent at grocery stores with these cards.) The bonus points are limited to the first $1,000 spent each month, and this promotion ends on April 30, 2021.

Solid move by them. With drugstores at 3x on the Unlimited and 5x on Paypal on the Freedom there's really not much of anything I'm not getting at least 3x on at the moment between those three cards. Gonna take so many flights in 2022.

Bumping this again cause concert stuff - the Freedom 5% categories for July-September include purchases from
AXS.com Eventbrite Live Nation SeatGeek StubHub Ticket Mania Ticketmaster TicketWeb TickPick Vivid Seats
Also pretty much all the pro sports leagues, movie theaters, car rentals and gas stations, but people here are probably most interested in the stuff above.
