Legit interested in seeing what your top 20 is. I haven't looked at wretched's list all that closely, but I imagine there's a decent amount of overlap throughout.

I have not listened to Noname, Pistol Annies, Amen Dunes, or Low yet, and a couple of those will probably end up pretty high on my list.

All 4 of those albums are very good, for what it’s worth.

Ugh, looks like I have a week to pull my list together. I'm still finding albums out there I haven't paid attention to yet.

Doing some final relistening to my top 100 and I'm finding that there's basically no difference between my #5 album and like my #25 album. Such a fun, deep year.

Yeah as I was making mine last night I was like Ugh I don't want to put that at 25 that's so low, but then realized that there's nothing it could replace and there's so much good music this year.

Just spewing some takes the next couple of posts:
2-10 on my list are basically dependent on my mood. With the exception of Pusha (not pressed) and Earl (not in stock at my store) I have everything in my top 15 on vinyl.
I think this is the most diverse in terms of genre that one of my lists has ever been. I'm sure Timbo will tell me that statistically I'm not as open minded as I maybe could be (which, duh), but I am going to try and keep that momentum going forward. The fact that my Spotify new discovery playlist or whatever is a good chunk jazz may or may not help with that.
I feel confident that if I had listened to Yves Tumor, Ulrika Speck, Noname, Denzel Curry, and Goat Girl more than once or twice in the past 2 weeks they would be higher on my list.
I am almost positive everything on my list is 7.0 or higher according to Pitchfork. Y'all knew I can't think for myself though.
My biggest wish for 2019 musically is that the under 30 minute album trend continues, both in hip-hop and otherwise.

Honestly your list last year was quite diverse.
But you should definitely give those some more spins. Yves Tumor is awesome.

Albums not on my list that I should've listened to more/earlier:
Anna St. Louis Joey Purp Nine Inch Nails Eric Church Buddy Shame (I blame the live show being so damn good before I listened to this the first time) Beach House Superorganism
Albums I will Regret Having Not Listened to at some point in the next ~2 years, then gripe about no one telling me to listen to them earlier:
The Internet JPEGMAFIA The Lemon Twigs Daughters Julia Holter Makayla McCraven Weakened Friends Anderson Paak Jay Rock Grapetooth
Albums That I Tried Really Hard to Like, But Didn't, And That's Not OK
Shopping Yo La Tengo US Girls Saba Kali Uchis (who, as of this post, is not in goodson's top 5 still) Buck Meek Blood Orange Valee Pistol Annies Big Red Machine Stephan Malkmus Robyn (check back in 6 months when I reverse course and get super into it) City Girls Half Waif Kurt Vile (I still love you Kurt and I'm sure they'll be rippers when I see ya live in a few weeks)
Albums I Really Liked at Some Point, and then Ghosted On:
American Pleasure Club Soccer Mommy MGMT Sudan Archives Deeper nothing.nowhere David Byrne No Age Ohmne Unknown Mortal Orchestra

Agreed. Aside from Bubblin all the singles were pretty forgettable, the half-baked ridiculous concept/story is cringe inducing, the cover art is awful...

I had high hopes for Oxnard, but once Tints dropped I had a feeling it would be a dud. It has some decent cuts but Headlow is the worst song he's done. I'm sorry but it's 2018, songs about blowjobs are childish and the skit at the end is dumb. This is the kind of song frat boys can get behind before a night of date raping.

Usually when I come in here, I just feel like I sucked at listening to music this year with my 60-75 albums I heard including many I ghosted on despite liking, etc. Thanks.

Saturday at midnight CST is the deadline. Don't have too many lists yet, and a few posted need touch-ups to be counted.

Just put up my list and tabulated something that always interests me this time of year. Of my top 100 albums from 2018, 46 were made by artists with whom I was either totally unfamiliar or had never heard before at the beginning of the year. Kinda fun to look back and see which artists came out of nowhere to dominate my listening habits.

I think it has a lot of the same aesthetic as that album - glitchy, fractured songs that evoke emotion even if you don't know all of the motivation.

Yea I gave it about 3-4 listens, some earlier this month in prep for list szn, but it didn't totally click with me, for whatever reason. I really dig the last track and (I think) "Dancing and Fire," but struggled w/ the rest. Wouldn't be surprised to find myself coming back to it tho, just given how purely interesting and different sounding it is compared to most other groups.

Not a huge Wilco fan but I am really digging Warm. "Having Been is No Way to Be" is such an incredible song.

Just a reminder b/c I still see them up there like this - no separate list for EPs. All releases combined into one list.
