I forgot about posters. I buy posters.

I've been using concertarchives.org to track my shows, it works pretty well.
Including festivals, I've seen 549 shows.
Top Acts: Tool(x16), Nine Inch Nails(x14), Tori Amos(x12), U2(x10)
Don't ever buy beer at shows as I don't drink.
I hardly buy merch anymore, outside of lineup posters at festivals.
Don't think there is such a thing as too many shows.

Cigarettes After Sex @ LH last fall was my 500th venue show.

I live in Iowa so I don't get to go to much shows that don't require traveling so I'm probably around 75-100 not including festivals.
I never buy Merch, I especially hate concert tees.
I've seen Muse, Radiohead, and Kanye the most.
Festivals attended Lolla since 2010, pitchfork twice, EDC Chicago, 80/35 8 times, Bonnaroo 2014, maha fest.

My rule on silk screen posters is that it has to be unique to the show...not a fan of posters which list all tour dates and sold at every show.

I never kept track of shows. My first one was in 1981 and the yearly number has varied over time depending on the vagaries of money, spouses, kids, etc. No idea how many that would add up to.
Iron Maiden easily the most, I'd guess around 12-14 times. The various incarnations of Black Sabbath is probably second. Of late, Courtney Barnett is probably the most at 6 times, with FJM a close second at 5.
Merch: once in a while I'll buy a shirt.
Beer: sweet mother of god I don't know want to know the answer to this.

I'll also add that something flipped for me personally back in 2005 when I finally said, "Fuck it - I don't care if none of my friends are into the music I like or too lame to go out; I'll just go to the shows I want to see by myself." I was well into my thirties and it was a relief and a revelation to discover that I was totally okay with attending live performances without company.
Before I checked, I assumed joining the board in 2006 was my impetus for beginning to attend shows solo. I guess being a board member just strengthened my resolve. As I'm sure is the case with most everyone else on here, it also created a situation where I'd see people I knew at most shows I attended (in Chicago at least), which was really cool and one of the great things about this community.

I had a very similar realization after Lolla 2012. I had so much regret from missing artists I really wanted to see in order to stay with my friends. Now I'm the same way, I just go to whatever shows/sets I really want, regardless of whether or not I have anyone to go with.
This board has certainly helped as far as seeing friendly faces at shows, even when none of my IRL friends are there.

tbh, i'd rather go to a show by myself than with others. i can focus more on the show.

There's a balcony at Ogden Theater in Denver that you have to get in early to have access to - this group was in line ahead of us at a show last year, and they snagged rail dead center in this section. As soon as the show starts, they start talking about their work week, elevating their voices so they could hear themselves over the band. I've never come so close to murdering someone.

Yeah I really don't keep track of this stuff. Kudos to you folks who do. I'm pretty sure Sondre Lerche would be the artist I've seen most frequently followed by MMJ and Avett Brothers. And I drink plenty of beer. AMA. So I actually was able to work this out thanks to setlist.fm - I've seen Sondre and MMJ 6 times each. Sondre without the benefit of a festival, and I'd easily have seen him more often if he actually came to Denver. I've also seen him in 4 cities and 2 countries. I would have seen Kanye 5 times, but three of the shows I've had tickets to were cancelled. Fun!

The various incarnations of Black Sabbath is probably second. this shows your age more than anything else. people that aren't olds don't realize all the sabbath lineups there were.

I used to track this stuff, but it was by sets (so a headliner and two openers were 3 “shows” because I listed each band; fests included each band I saw). I remember it got to 1000 about a year after college, then I really slowed down on shows. So I’m guessing around 300 shows by now.
Don’t do much merch. Occasionally pick up a record at a show. Don’t drink much at shows.
Definitely would be going to more if it weren’t for working out of town.
Seen Freddie Gibbs the most, only because he did a bunch of high school parties. Probably Modest Mouse after that?

But actually I have no idea, and I wish I had kept track. I was at one point, but then I lost the list when one of my computers crashed and I was dumbo that didn't have it backed up.

Can't begin to think of how many I've been to. I grew up within walking distance of the Vic and the Metro and had extremely lax parents so from 14 on I was pretty much going to at least a show every week, I'd go to literally anything all ages that sounded remotely interesting. That was 17 years ago and I've kept up a steady clip. Prior to that I'd get to go to things when my brother would be willing to take me, which happened every now and then.
I've seen Claypool the most obviously. I think I may have seen him in various solo forms more than Primus, IDK.

How many of you guys have experienced any degree of hearing loss over all of these shows? I'm beginning to think an investment into some nice earplugs would be a good idea. My hearing isn't particularly bad but it also isn't great by any means.

My hearing isn't particularly bad but it also isn't great by any means. I don't think I have much loss yet, but I do have some ringing. I've been wearing earplugs consistently to shows for the last year and a half to two years and they really help. Highly recommended, and I know a bunch of other people here will have similar stories.

I keep saying I'm going to buy some nice earplugs, but realistically I'm not.

My Mom always insisted I wear earplugs to shows, so I've been doing it as long as I've been going to shows.
I used to use the foam plugs, but I use the Etymotic plugs now, they're way better. They're only $16 from Amazon too.

I don't think I have any hearing loss, but I definitely don't miss the ringing in my ears.

I do think that promoters have gotten smarter and safer over the years, so most bigger shows aren't as much of an audio assault as they used to be.

My hearing isn't particularly bad but it also isn't great by any means. Oh my ears are fucked. I had major ear surgery when I was 3 in my right ear that took some of my hearing away (but saved the rest of it) so I'm already down cause of that. I started using earplugs semi-regularly about a year ago. I use them a lot more in small club shows than I do fests at this point, but usually my ears tell me pretty quickly if I need them or not. I feel like I've lived with tinnitus since college

My hearing isn't particularly bad but it also isn't great by any means. i've worn them on and off for years - dependent on what kind of venue, where i'm sitting / standing, etc... but about 10 years ago at ACL, i was watching son volt and was fairly close to one of the speakers, but it wasn't that loud, so i didn't have my earplugs in. then jay farrar whips out some crazy horse feedback-y solo and it screeched so loud, i felt my right ear immediately start hurting. it still hurts when volumes get too loud, even with earplugs in.
