david bote has a single (which allowed him to score on a rizzo homerun), a barehanded defensive gem at 3rd, and a steal on home on a wild pitch where the ball went no more than a couple feet from the plate. and it's only the 3rd inning.

So you're saying I'm going to be seeing a lot of David Bote jerseys/shirseys the next time I'm in Chicago.

Carlos Rodon is very good. I don't recall him ever putting together a string of starts like this. Pairing him and Kopech at the top of the rotation will be lovely.

Was listening to the score yesterday and they had a "trade bryant and let bote play 3rd" take. Hosts shut him down real quick.

I used to listen to a decent amount of sports radio when I was working at the bakery, but I only ever listen to game broadcasts now. The only hosts I ever really enjoyed were Laurence Holmes and Jason Goff.

You don't need to listen to sports talk radio for very long to hear someone say something awfully stupid.

I feel like the Boers and Bernstein screeners used to purposely look for the dummies actually.

Giolito has been so much better recently too. Last 7 starts: 8.0 k/9, 3.85 bb/9, 1.07 hr/9. I was doing a Giolito deep dive on Brooks Baseball, and he's been getting way more whiffs on his offspeed stuff in addition to gaining almost 2mph on his fastball since May. He changed his release point too, so there are actual reasons behind his improved performance rather than luck. He doesn't have true ace potential anymore unless the strikeouts go up or the walks go down, but he can definitely be a Freddy Garcia innings-eater type.

I feel like the Boers and Bernstein screeners used to purposely look for the dummies actually. I love Dan Bernstein but that was always the most annoying part of the show. The dude is super smart and informative, but then just got dragged down with these intentionally stupid calls about Jay Cutler

I definitely buy the White Sox as a playoff sleeper for next year if Kopech and one of Cease/Dunning can make the Leap. Jimenez will rake.

Some grade A horsehit from Jeter's Marlins tonight. Ureña drilled Acuña on the elbow with the 1st pitch of the game, for no other reason than Acuña has been demolishing Miami for a few days.

Ureña only suspended 6 games

Standard for hitting a batter is 5. Would have been tough for them to enforce much more.

They need to change the standard. All that means is he gets two more days of rest. Puig is getting punished more than him. Should be three starts, at least.

Wait, puig got more than 6 games??

Post by Pale Hose on Aug 16, 2018 16:55:10 GMT -6
Puig got two. But suspending a starting pitcher 6 games means his next scheduled start only needs to be pushed back 2 days. I agree, that needs to be changed.

Ureña's next start gets pushed back 2 days from the Yankees to the...Atlanta Braves. Nice job, MLB.
