How did we make it this far without posting possibly the greatest single day festival ever? I was kind of hoping Homecoming would just be The National rebooking this. That poster doesn't even have the weird dance stage lineup which had Matthew Dear and ADULT. It is so strange I got to see Run the Jewels, Solange, and CHVRCHES on the tiniest, half-empty stages.

back when more people knew who el-p and killer mike were than run the jewels. One of favorite parts of Laneway: watching Savages up front, and turning to look and seeing Bradford from Deerhunter standing next to me

How did we make it this far without posting possibly the greatest single day festival ever? Laneway Detroit was simply too good for this world... RIP found the schedule for that, though i'm pretty sure there were schedule changes after this released because i watched both Phosphorescent and Chet Faker, and I kinda remember Solange being way earlier in the day.

Glad to see Roo 14 getting some love though I'm surprised nothing for Lolla 12. Maybe I have rose colored glasses since it was my first but passion pit, m83, bloc party, franz, tmoe, toro y moi, twin shadow, tune yards, the weeknd, the walkmen, Frank ocean, sbtrkt. That was a great lineup for me.

I did like that one cuz it allowed us to go for one day when they put the three acts I wanted to see (Sigur Ros-ATDI-Jack White) in a row on the same stage.

How did we make it this far without posting possibly the greatest single day festival ever? This is one of my favorite festival days ever. I can't believe how stacked it was, and how huge several of these bands have become. Sucks they obviously weren't successful enough to come back, because their lineups in Australia are always really good.

For one day fests I'd put Curiosa up there.
Cure, Interpol touring Antics, Muse touring Absolution, Thursday, Mogwai and of course the delightful Melissa Auf Der Maur.

I remember that! I was trying to remember what that was. Muse had to cancel on the Tinley date because of a death in the family or something like that, I was pissed.

That is awesome. Were they just counting on people leaving during Goldfinger?? If they were, it was a good bet, since my friends and I left after Foo Fighters edit: Also, WHFS was giving away free tickets to see Gravity Kills later that night. I got one but I didn't go.

Most of the big acts on the first day didn't end up performing. There was a huge storm and a girl got struck by lightning.

This was a good show but unfortunately Bjork cancelled and was replaced by Chumbawamba it was a voice thing so she cancelled a couple radio christmas fests that year. I went to this and forgot she was supposed to be on the lineup until I looked up the poster a few years ago. Seeing Homogenic era Bjork would have been the best. The Cure was still awesome. Also, Chumbawumba was being interviewed on q101 while we were driving down to the UC. They were making fun of The Cure for writing silly love songs. I guess it makes sense because they're super serious anarchists that write soccer anthems.
