I'd agree overall but Mumford (or Jack Johnson) brings down the top line, whereas the top of 2014 is unfuckwithable, or however the cool kids say it.

2013 and 2014 are equally great years for Roo I think. Absolutely crushed I was only able to go 2011 and 2012. 2011 wasn't too shabby though.

this travelling fest was at Tinley Park and it literally only sold the first 3 rows of the pavilion. Iggy Pop asked the crowd to come up on stage and like 75% of the crowd was up there

That reminds me that there was once a touring version of the Newport Folk Fest that came to Tinley in 1998. They had Wilco (while they were touring on the Mermaid Avenue album), Rodney Crowell and John Hiatt. Shockingly, it was a ghost town. This is the only article I can find on it, they had to cancel a 2nd stage since the sales were so bad.

I have a huge soft spot for both Sponge and the Nixons.

Sponge was one of the first bands I ever saw in a club. High school me thought it was a great show - they covered 'What I Like About You' and the Speed Racer theme.

I loved their cover of the Speed Racer theme when I was a kid.

I'm grateful that I got to go to one, which has one of my favorite lineups ever: You could see every act on the top 5 lines with no conflicts.

Most of the big acts on the first day didn't end up performing. There was a huge storm and a girl got struck by lightning. and radiohead did an aftershow at the 9:30. i don't recall if that was scheduled or only arranged cause of the cancellations, though.

why would they use a picture of what looks like the most packed crowd as advertising?

why would they use a picture of what looks like the most packed crowd as advertising? back in 2006 people weren't wussies, they wanted their festivals packed and dirty and looking like the 90s.
