I’m guessing they booked her before she blew up. from the article: Basically because Coachella lucked out by having to book her over six months ago, when she wasn’t quite as big of a draw as she is now. And also possibly because she didn’t know Coachella was such a big deal, as she also explains in the interview.
bodak yellow was already huge 6 months ago. and her not knowing coachella was a big deal means her representation must not be good. |

damn, how bad is cardi's representation that she is only making $70k per weekend to play coachella??? Day for Night probably got a steal too, even though she was only really on stage for like 15 minutes of her set. |

I was under the impression a lot of acts are booked even further than six months out. It is totally believable they lucked out booking her before 'Bodak Yellow.' They'll pay her $1 mil in two years to headline.

The Weeknd was god awful. He needs to go away for a long time, really surprised he didn't bring out anyone (was there for the first few songs then went to Jamiroquai but was still able to see his screens in case someone came out).

I'm sure Cardi's crowd was absolutely nuts and crowds always look more impressive in the daytime but Idk I can't help but call BS on her crowd being bigger than Beyonce's. World is weird though who knows.

flights to Chicago are delayed so I'm chilling at my usual spot in PSP.
will do a full write up when i have a keyboard but the fest this year was wonderful. mostly very happy with the changes and additions to the park and nearly every set i saw was outstanding.
logistically though this was one of the worst years for both shuttles and security so that was a bummer.
lovely to meet jazzpolice and his pops and then of course shout-out to neader, dj, Pulp and Jack for being the best drinking and dancing partners.

How bad was security this year? not bad as in thorough, bad is in incompetent. i walked in Saturday because i got in early for Otoboke and they literally didn't touch me or scan me. but Friday and Sunday it was at least 30 minutes of bottleneck hysteria as they just started ripping apart bags, making people go through metal detectors 7 times, and had no gender lines nor no bag lines. legitimately embarrassing for a fest this old |
