Not exactly sure what this will look like at the end of the day, but I guess Pitchfork is being absorbed into GQ. When I was doing the rollout this morning, Pitchfork kept asking me to "register my email" to "continue reading this article". So I think it's gonna look like spammy bullshit intelligent people should avoid. |

Had a crazy-ass encounter at a gas station on Tuesday.
Aug had a snow day and wanted to go sledding, so I ducked out for a couple hours and drove him over to a park with some decent hills. We needed gas, so I stopped at a station along the way. We were the only car at the whole station. As soon as I get out of the car, this guy comes up to me and asks for money. I told him I didn't have any cash and he walked around to the other side of the pump and was just standing there with his back to me. I start filling up and, when I look up, he's got a mask pulled up and is standing right between me and the car, looking at August sitting in the backseat. He spun around, looked at me with wide eyes and booked it the fuck outta there.
There's been a spike in people getting carjacked at gas pumps around here (usually when they're looking at their phones), so maybe that's what this guy was gonna try before seeing a kid in the car?

My sister just passed schubas and told me people are getting carried out in stretchers/fire trucks everywhere. Anyone know what’s going on? She knew I wanted to go there and was relieved I didn’t.

“I just watched a guy get taken out covered in blood” is the text I just got She was not amused when I said that’s not uncommon but I’m still curious Yeah there was one dude who definitely broke his nose/other parts of his face and was being carried out by his buddy past us at the show. Saw another person having their hand taped that looked bloody as hell between sets too. Schubas was probably oversold- they opened the doors in the back of the actual venue open during the last 3 bands which I've only seen them do one other time- but I thought, generally, the scene and crowd were fine. I'd be surprised if Schubas booked another show like this in the future since it's so damn tiny and not really conductive for stage diving/moshing/hardcoring, but who knows. I've got nothing on the firetrucks though. I saw one go by when I went out for my smoke break but I don't think that was related to anything going on at the venue. Not seeing anything on socials this morning. Probably just a routine emergency. |

It was nuts in there, but I didn't see anybody get hurt. The irony is Lincoln Hall was at maybe 75% capacity for the Torres show. They almost could have switched venues |

Found out on Eater today that my favorite bagel shop was supposed to go out of business yesterday? But now it seems there's new ownership? The long-time owner was a fixture at that place and an awesome guy, so this is a bummer. But just finding out that they almost closed has me reeling. Eff. Support yr favorite local businesses, folks.

 This photo is incredible. Eruptions in Iceland are pretty close to the Blue Lagoon. My wife and I had ventured into the town just south of there that may need to be abandoned due to the lava flow. |
